The Golden Mushroom is a legendary item, similar to the Mythic Goldfish, that spawns randomly around the Fortnite map. The Golden Mushroom has been kept secret by developers and isn’t included in the patch notes. Due to the rarity of the item, streamers have been offering rewards to players if they find the mushroom.
Where to find the Golden Mushroom in Fortnite
The Golden Mushroom has a 1 in 10,000 spawn rate or a .0001% chance of spawning on the map. The Golden Mushroom can be grouped in stacks of three, which may give some hope that the spawn rate will increase. Sadly, the mushroom doesn’t spawn in food boxes or chests, which makes it super hard to find. Some recommend that players should search for wooded and shady areas to see if they can find it. As the water clears, more locations that bear Golden Mushrooms might be uncovered.
So far, players have mostly found the Golden Mushrooms at the base of trees. This means that areas like Misty Meadows, Catty Corners, Tilted Towers, and Pleasant Park might have higher chances of spawning Golden Mushrooms. You can also spawn mushrooms in creative mode. Simply spawn thousands of mushrooms until a Golden Mushroom appears.
How to use the Golden Mushroom in Fortnite
Once found, the Golden Mushroom can be eaten instantly to give the consumer 100 shield. This bonus will come in handy when competitive matches come down to the wire. Obtaining a Mythic Weapon and a Golden Mushroom would be a lethal combination. There has been an issue where gathering the Golden Mushrooms turn them into regular mushrooms. If you want to make the most out of this rare find, eat it instantly to take the shield bonus.
If you are really dedicated to the search for the Golden Mushroom, consider trying to complete challenges while looking for the mushroom. With time, you should eventually come across the glowing fungi. With such a low drop rate, finding the mushroom would be a surprise, so make sure to snap a picture of it for your scrapbook!
