Some good news has come out of the Golden Globes 2020 for Star Wars fans, as Ewan McGregor made an appearance sporting a classic Obi-Wan hairstyle. Divisive as the Star Wars prequels may be, most fans seem to agree that Ewan McGregor's performance as the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the best in the series. The admiration between fans and McGregor appears to be mutual as well, with the actor going so far as to declare his love for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi more than once.

In August of last year, it was announced that McGregor was reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a new series on Disney+. Although there had been conjecture about a standalone Obi-Wan project being made after the prequel trilogy ended, nothing material came to light until Disney purchased Star Wars from Lucasfilm. Despite massive fan interest, Disney struggled with moving the project forward. Their indecision was further complicated when Solo: A Star Wars Story under-performed at the box office. Due to Solo's poor financial earnings and a worsening fan rhetoric after the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Disney decided to put all Star Wars spin-offs on hold indefinitely. Of course, that didn't last long, as the mega-corporation soon announced that an Obi-Wan Kenobi television series was in development, and is set to begin shooting in 2020.

Judging by Ewan McGregor's hair at the Golden Globes, the actor sure seems ready to put the Jedi robes back on, supposing he hasn't done so already. Posted by many to Twitter and included below, it sure looks like classic Obi-Wan hair. Of course, Ewan could just be growing out the mane for his personal pleasure, but the timing doesn't seem to be a coincidence. Ewan last appeared physically in a Star Wars movie 15 years ago in Revenge of the Sith, although it's worth noting Obi-Wan's voice was used in the new Star Wars sequel trilogy, albeit from the beyond.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is often associated with having long hair and a thick beard, yet he only donned such a style in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Twenty-two years before McGregor inherited the role, Sir Alec Guinness played Obi-Wan, and although he had a considerable beard, he didn't have the hair to match. The first time McGregor played the character, he had very little hair, as is usually the case for Padawan's of the Jedi order. Later on, as Obi-Wan achieved the rank of Jedi Master, his style ascended with his title, ultimately giving the character what many regard as his signature look.

It's funny that McGregor's Obi-Wan is so often connected with the character's visual appearance from Attack of the Clones. Perhaps this popularity is explained by the abundance of memes from the film and their pervading popularity across the web. No matter how you cut it, the fan interest and admiration for Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi is there in spades. That's good news, too, as Obi-Wan Kenobi fans may not have to wait much longer to see their hero return.
