Mobilize announced that this revamped version of The Golden Girls will be the first episode of its Zoom Where It Happened event. The organization is partnering with Zoom to host the event as well as Color of Change - the nation's largest online racial justice organization. Alfre Woodard (12 Years A Slave) will play Dorothy, Tracee Ellis Ross (Blackish)  will play Rose, Sanaa Lathan (Love & Basketball) will play Blanche, and Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk) will play Sophia. This fiercely talented cast will be lead by director Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Lena Waithe will host the event.

Ross also advertised the show on her Instagram. She posted a gif of the Zoom Where It Happened cast's faces replacing the original Golden Girls' faces. Fans flocked to the comments section and announced how ecstatic they are for this remake. Some even vocalized that they would like to see a full-blown reboot with this cast. Others commended Ross for her impressive photoshop skills. Anyone interested in attending can pick up their free ticket and tune into the reading on September 8th at 6 PM PST/9 PM EST.
