While The Goldbergs season 10 episode 13 will arrive eventually, the family sitcom is currently on hiatus for a number of weeks. While it is standard practice for network television shows to take a multiple-week break every year about halfway through a new season, this practice still leads to a lot of speculation, given the volatile nature of the modern media landscape. With shows often being canceled without warning (and even popular series not being immune to this phenomenon), it is natural for viewers to worry that their favorite show’s multiple-week absence from screens is a somber sign of things to come.Available To Stream On HuluFortunately for The Goldbergs, season 10’s hiatus is just that. Although Murray’s exit got The Goldbergs season 10 off to a shaky start, there is no reason to believe that the family sitcom’s average annual hiatus is anything out of the ordinary or an early harbinger of the show’s impending cancelation. However, the show’s hiatus does mean it will be a while before The Goldbergs season 10, episode 13 airs for viewing. The series, like its fellow network family sitcoms The Conners and The Simpsons, is taking a break so that its writing staff can work on the season’s second half.Related: The Goldbergs Almost Replaced Jeff Garlin’s Murray (Already)

Why The Goldbergs Season 10 Is On Hiatus

Beverly and Murray in The Goldbergs

After a four-week hiatus, The Goldbergs season 10m episode 13 will air on February 15, 2023. The title of the episode has not yet been revealed. However, since The Goldbergs season 10 has wasted Beverly’s best story by ignoring her grief over Murray’s death since the season premiere, it stands to reason that the show could touch on this subject in episode 13. It has been tough for The Goldbergs season 10 to write around the exit of Jeff Garlin, who was let go from the show earlier this year due to allegations of misconduct.

While Murray was killed off offscreen between episodes, The Goldbergs failed to seamlessly incorporate this loss into the sitcom’s story. To be fair to the show’s creators, killing off Murray was the correct choice despite how much this impacted the dynamic of the titular family. In season 9, The Goldbergs covered up Garlin’s exit badly with a bizarre CGI stand-in, and simply letting the character go was a much more dignified move by the creators of the series. That said, The Goldbergs season 10 still hasn’t reckoned with the emotional impact of the decision.

What The Goldbergs Season 10 Episode 13 Will Be About

With any luck, The Goldbergs season 10 episode 13 will see the show finally address Murray’s death. While The Goldbergs season 10 episode 1, “If You Build It,” did touch on this story, the family’s grief was wrapped up a little too quickly and conveniently, even for a light-hearted sitcom. Luckily for The Goldbergs, the series isn’t the first show to face this issue. When The Conners killed off Roseanne due to her actor’s real-life conduct, the show was stuck in a similar quandary.

While The Conners could not ignore Roseanne’s death as this would seem callous and unnatural, the show also couldn’t focus on it since it was a dark, heavy subject. Furthermore, the series could be seen as tacitly endorsing its former star’s real-life behavior by eulogizing their character, something The Goldbergs runs the risk of doing with Garlin’s Murray. Luckily, like The Conners, The Goldbergs season 10 can address the fictional tragedy’s impact on its characters without excusing its real-life star. However, only time will tell if The Goldbergs season 10, episode 13 manages this feat.
