New Godzilla vs. Kong footage has been releases through IGN Fan Fest, giving another glimpse at the impending battle between cinema’s most iconic monsters. Promos for the upcoming film have continued to promise that “One Will Fall” in the titans’ duel, foreshadowing a decisive winner and loser after the dust settles. Godzilla vs. Kong features an ensemble cast including Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Shun Oguri. The film releases on March 31.

Since the beginning of the MonsterVerse, the eventual clash between Godzilla and King Kong has been highly anticipated. So far, it looks like Godzilla may be the villain of the film, with Kong being brought in by humanity to act as their champion and stop the lizard’s rampage. Of course, there’s likely more to Godzilla’s sudden burst of violence than it seems, which could be connected to the new Apex cybernetics group. A recent report revealed that Apex will be building a new mecha-titan using King Ghidorah’s head in the film.

New Godzilla vs. Kong footage has come out of IGN Fan Fest, teasing more of the brutal fight to come between the two titular titans. As the battle of the beasts gets closer and closer to its premiere, more questions arise about its conclusion and impact on the future of the MonsterVerse. The new clip shows the beginning of that battle. Watch below.

The new clip shows even more of Godzilla’s new, violent nature, as he viciously destroys ships and planes on his way to a chained-up King Kong. Some brief shots from the sequence have been shown previously, but now the entire scene has been revealed. Seen in totality, it’s clear that Godzilla explicitly seeks Kong out. The motivation for Monarch to remove the ape from his home on Skull Island still hasn’t been fully explained, but the new clip shows the two raring to fight with or without preparation from the humans.

Director Adam Wingard has repeatedly stated his intention to make Godzilla vs. Kong a definitive duel, settling once and for all which monster would win in a fight. However, that goal seems a bit at odds with the longevity of the MonsterVerse, which depends on the survival of both of its stars. With Mecha-Ghidora potentially on the loose, it’s possible the two lead titans could be compelled to join forces, though likely only after a full battle is fought. Godzilla vs. Kong premieres in theaters and on HBO Max on March 31.
