A new teaser poster has been released for Godzilla vs. Kong. After Godzilla goes head to head with Ghidorah, the giant Kaiju will be going up against King Kong in 2020. The MonsterVerse kicked off in 2014 with Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, before introducing King Kong in Kong: Skull Island. This weekend the series will continue with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which will set up Godzilla vs. Kong.

Godzilla vs. Kong is now less than a year away, so fans already know quite a bit about the project. Adam Wingard will direct Godzilla vs. Kong, which is said to be another "massive monster brawl movie."  In the official synopsis for Godzilla vs. Kong, it was revealed that the movie will involve Monarch further investigating the Titans' origins, a conspiracy that could destroy all of the monsters, and of course the giant battle between Kong and Godzilla. The cast for the film also began to fill out at the end of last year, with Alexander Skarsgård, Jessica Henwick, and Brian Tyree Henry being some of the most notable additions. Fans had previously gotten some set photos from Godzilla vs. Kong, but now the first teaser poster has been revealed.

Fans have to wait a bit for Godzilla vs. Kong to hit theaters, but Godzilla: King of the Monsters starts playing tonight. This movie will feature Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah and of course Godzilla, but the film is expected to also introduce a total of 17 Titans. Early reviews for Godzilla: King of the Monsters are "super polarizing," which could hurt Godzilla vs. Kong. That being said, Godzilla: King of the Monsters hasn't even gotten a wide release at the time of writing this, so there's no telling how it could positively or negatively affect people's anticipation for Godzilla vs. Kong.

Ever since Godzilla vs. Kong was announced by Warner Bros. back in 2015, there has been a lot of fan art depicting what a battle between Godzilla and King Kong might look like. Even before then, Godzilla and Kong went head to head in 1962 for Toho's Godzilla sequel, although the special effects in Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong should be much better. This new teaser poster not only gives fans their first look at the Kaiju battle, but the tagline also further indicates that there really will be one true winner at the end of Godzilla vs. Kong.
