Godzilla vs. Kong has been delayed from its November 20 release date, and will instead be stomping into theaters May 21, 2021. The upcoming MonsterVerse installment was one of the more anticipated films coming out later this year. Recently, the monster bash received its official PG-13 rating, after a drought of information.

Godzilla vs. Kong is bringing together the two most popular monsters in history for the first time since 1962. Like Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the film is looking to have massive monster action. Director Adam Wingard teased such recently when he commented on the film's rating. Despite Legendary Pictures working on the movie for a little while now, not much information has been revealed. When Godzilla vs. Kong was delayed from its March release date, fans were disappointed but hopeful a release date change would ensure a box office hit. Now, Godzilla vs. Kong has been delayed again.

This week, Warner Bros. announced release date changes for a number of its upcoming notable films, including Godzilla vs. Kong. The battle of titans will no longer be releasing on November 20 this year. Instead, the MonsterVerse movie is now releasing May 21, 2021. Adam Wingard (via Legendary) shared a message on this from his Instagram, acknowledging the wait to "see who will emerge victorious." Check out the post below.

Interestingly, this is not the first time a MonsterVerse Godzilla film has received a May release date. Godzilla: King of the Monsters released May 31 last year, and Godzilla 2014 released May 16. 2019's film did under-perform at the box office. However, Godzilla vs. Kong is a big crossover film. Should the film receive high critic reviews, it should theoretically be a smash hit in summer blockbuster season.

While it is disappointing Godzilla won't be rumbling with Kong in five months, November was becoming a busy month with Black Widow and No Time To Die. Based on Wingard's latest post, as well as past comments, Godzilla vs. Kong sounds like it will be worth the wait. Also, Eiza Gonzalez, who stars in the movie, said back in March she thinks fans will be "really happy" with the film. Fans did have to wait five years between Godzilla 2014 and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, so this won't be quite as long. With Godzilla vs. Kong now releasing in 11 months, though, it's even harder to predict when the trailer could premiere.
