New footage from Godzilla vs Kong shows a moment from their big fight where the giant ape lands a punch on Gojira. The fourth film in Legendary's MonsterVerse will finally pit the two kaiju against each other. The title match is expected to see Godzilla and Kong fight for the mantle of King of the Monsters, though it's still anyone's guess who will come out on top.

Godzilla vs Kong is also among the many Warner Bros. movies being released on HBO Max alongside their theatrical releases. This new release strategy came about in response to the pandemic's continued effect on movie theaters, leaving many in the U.S. still closed. Though Legendary initially balked at WB's plan, the two studios have since worked it out. Godzilla vs Kong has even had its release date moved up, with the film now set to release in theaters and on HBO Max in March.

In a new trailer from HBO Max that teases many of WB's upcoming movies, a bit of new Godzilla vs Kong footage shows more of their exciting battle. In this particular clip, Kong can be seen punching Godzilla square on the jaw! Check it out:

Though Godzilla vs Kong is releasing sooner than expected, there has yet to be an actual trailer. The little footage of Godzilla vs Kong that has been seen thus far has either been shared exclusively at conventions (and not officially for the public) or in other compilation trailers like this latest from HBO Max. Still, what's been seen from these slivers of footage and in a handful of new images looks epic, teasing a battle for the ages between the two colossal stars.

Most notably, the little footage that has been released shows how much larger Kong has grown since he was last seen in Kong: Skull Island. That film is set in the 1970s and Kong is even referred to as a young member of his species, so it makes sense for Godzilla vs Kong to feature a more mature ape. Now that he's grown to what's likely his full size, Kong is clearly ready to battle Godzilla for this King of the Monsters crown. Who wins is sure to one of the movie's best surprises, and there's even the chance neither will technically beat the other. There are other monsters rumored to appear Godzilla vs Kong as well, so it may turn out that after their scrap, Godzilla and Kong will need to team-up to take on even worse foes.
