Godzilla vs. Kong has received new footage showing the ape in chains. Anticipation is high for March's MonsterVerse showdown. There is probably no movie releasing this year with the kind of action Godzilla vs. Kong will offer. The first trailer will finally debut on Sunday.

Little is known about Godzilla vs. Kong's story. A synopsis highlights a conspiracy, and the novelization teases an all-out war between the title monsters. However, the specific reason why Godzilla and Kong come to blows hasn't been revealed. The credits in Godzilla: King of the Monsters do mention Titans converging on Skull Island. If that plays a part in Godzilla vs. Kong, it's easy to see why the ape may be angry with different creatures entering his home. Interestingly, the first footage for the movie revealed Kong with a collar around his neck. This surely plays a key role in the conflict, as humans are almost certainly responsible for Kong in chains.

New Godzilla vs. Kong footage has appeared (via Gojira 675), showing Kong in chains as Godzilla lunges at him from the ocean. This footage appeared as an ad before a YouTube video, so fans may be able to randomly come across it. Check out the footage below.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the footage is the woman saying "Godzilla will come for him." Kong is shown not only with a collar, but also what looks like chains on his right wrist. The new footage raises more questions about the nature of the conflict. Perhaps Monarch is using Kong as bait. Interestingly, the footage also shows Kong on what could be an aircraft carrier. In the brief footage HBO Max released, the Titans fight atop an aircraft carrier. This is also seen in the toy packaging image.

Speculation will continue as the countdown to answers and likely more questions begins. Somehow, it appears humans were able to capture Kong in some way. The trailer debut on Sunday will certainly generate a lot of discussion on social media. It appears marketing is commencing full force now. Not only is the trailer coming, but the Monarch Sciences website has been updated to tease Godzilla and Kong on a collision course with one another. What is sure to be a discussed battle for years to come is just two months away from launching on HBO Max and in theaters. Godzilla vs. Kong is looking to be a grand culmination of the previous MonsterVerse films.
