From Monarch: Legacy of Monsters to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Legendary's Monsterverse is loaded with Titans. Most of the monsters are likely in hibernation, but could always come back into play at some point in a future installment, such as a potential Godzilla vs. Kong 3. Or, they could appear in a project set earlier in the Monsterverse timeline - namely Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2.

Godzilla and Kong's movies have done much to flesh out the world of the Monsterverse. Across multiple installments, it's gradually built its library of creatures, combining monsters associated with Toho's Godzilla movies and its own original creations. Thanks to the addition of Apple TV+'s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters show, the Monsterverse is developing an even larger lineup of Titans, one made even bigger by its fifth movie, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Godzilla

Godzilla has appeared in three Monsterverse movies and two shows

Godzilla became the King of the Monsters when he killed Ghidorah, but he wasn’t the undisputed alpha. At least one, Kong, didn’t regard him as the superior Monsterverse Titan. However, Godzilla vs. Kong's ending secured Godzilla’s position by having Kong lose their final brawl. When they stared each other down after the battle with Mechagodzilla, Godzilla gave Kong a chance to challenge him again. However, in dropping the axe, Kong sent a clear message to his rival: Godzilla is the undisputed alpha and the strongest known Titan of the Monsterverse.

Kong

Kong has appeared in three Monsterverse movies and two shows

After decades of being the King of Skull Island, Kong was forced to relocate when a storm took over his home and destroyed the ecosystem. Godzilla vs. Kong set up a new future for him by sending him to live in the Hollow Earth. As Godzilla x Kong explained three years later, the move is what has allowed Godzilla and Kong to maintain peace. With Godzilla acting as the alpha of the surface, Kong is able to fulfill a similar role in the Hollow Earth. And now, after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's ending, Kong has an entire group of Monsterverse Great Apes to look after.

Mothra

Mothra has appeared in two Monsterverse movies

In the Monsterverse, Mothra a.k.a. The Queen of the Monsters is an ancient ally to Godzilla with whom she shares a symbiotic relationship. Like many versions of the character before her, Mothra died protecting the world in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Giving up what was left of her energy unlocked Godzilla's burning form and enabled him to beat Ghidorah. She was revived in the Hollow Earth when Godzilla x Kong's human characters fulfilled an ancient prophecy by bringing Jia - an Iwi from Skull Island - to her temple. Following her rebirth, Mothra united Godzilla and Kong for the fight against Skar King.

Rodan

Rodan has appeared in 1 Monsterverse movie

Rodan and Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ original Titans were labeled as “defeated” in Godzilla vs. Kong’s intro, but they’re still very much alive in the Monsterverse. As revealed by the Godzilla: King of the Monsters credits, Rodan found a new volcano to roost in Fiji. According to the Godzilla vs. Kong novelization, he was paid a visit by the alpha two years after Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but what happened between them hasn’t been discussed. Regardless, Rodan is likely still asleep in his volcano and ready to rear his head if Godzilla finally calls his King of the Monsters minions out of hibernation.

Ghidorah

Ghidorah has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

Like his Toho counterpart, Ghidorah was treated as Godzilla's archenemy in King of the Monsters and was heavily implied to be a Titan from another planet. Thousands of years after losing to Godzilla and getting frozen in Antarctica, Ghidorah returned for a series of three rematches with Godzilla. On account of his electrical absorption powers, Ghidorah nearly won the final round, but Mothra's intervention paved the way for Godzilla to destroy Monster Zero with his nuclear pulse attack.

Mechagodzilla

Mechagodzilla has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

In a sense, the Monsterverse's Mechagodzilla is Ghidorah reborn. From the looks of things, APEX's efforts to build a mechanized answer to Godzilla with one of Ghidorah's severed heads allowed Monster Zero's spirit to take control of the robot. Thanks to the Hollow Earth entry source, Mechagodzilla was powerful enough to beat a tired Godzilla at the end of Godzilla vs. Kong. Its attempt to finish off Godzilla, however, was interrupted by Kong, who used his Godzilla-powered axe to destroy Mechagodzilla.

The MUTOs

The MUTOs have appeared in two Monsterverse movies

The first villains of the Monsterverse, the male and female pair of MUTOs represent a species deemed as ancestral enemies of Godzilla. After gaining Godzilla's attention, the two were individually killed by the Titan alpha in San Francisco. In King of the Monsters, the repercussions of Ghidorah’s call confirmed that the two MUTOs slain by Godzilla in the 2014 film weren’t the last of their kind. Referred to as the Queen of the MUTOs by Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty, the creature now answers to Godzilla and could serve as an ally to him in future movies.

Methuselah

Methuselah has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

The rock-like Titan known as Methuselah slept in plain sight for centuries by becoming a “mountain” in Munich, Germany. It wasn’t until Ghidorah’s decision to wake up the Titans that the monster finally stirred and revealed his presence. Like Rodan and the others, Methuselah briefly followed Ghidorah’s orders before eventually switching his allegiance to the new alpha. As for where he is now, the Godzilla vs. Kong novelization mentioned he’s hibernating 100 miles away from the Amazon.

Scylla

Scylla has appeared in two Monsterverse movies

Rodan, Behemoth, Methuselah, and the third MUTO have seemingly stayed in line since Ghidorah’s fall, but one Titan in particular has been less obedient. The six-legged insect Titan Scylla, who joined the others in bowing down to Godzilla in King of the Monsters, rebelled against the alpha in the Godzilla vs. Kong prequel graphic novel, Godzilla: Dominion. Godzilla let her live after their brief fight in Dominion, but chose differently when they had a rematch in Italy. Godzilla's first scene in Godzilla x Kong saw Scylla die at the alpha's hands.

Behemoth

Behemoth has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

Behemoth, a mammoth Titan, was one of the monsters that gathered around Godzilla during the finale of King of the Monsters. Following his acceptance of Godzilla as the alpha, Behemoth settled in the Amazon rainforest. To the surprise of scientists, the radiation from his body fully restored the deforested regions of the area. This helped prove that Emma (Vera Farmiga) was right in Godzilla 2 when she said the Monsterverse Titans were capable of saving the world.

Amhuluk

Amhuluk hasn't appeared in any Monsterverse movies or shows yet

While living peacefully in the Amazon, Behemoth was suddenly attacked by Amhuluk, a strange creature with tree-like appendages and tentacles hanging from his body. Amhuluk, a Titan whose name was spotted on a monitor screen in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, was apparently intent on taking over the Amazon for himself in Godzilla: Dominion. Based on how the fight with Behemoth was going, it looked like Amhuluk was on his way to getting what he wanted, but fortunately for Behemoth’s sake, Godzilla was in the vicinity. Though clearly one of the most malevolent Monsterverse Titans, Amhuluk understood right away he wasn’t in Godzilla’s league and quickly surrendered.

Tiamat

Tiamat has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

Sometime after beating Amhuluk, Godzilla had to fight another Titan awakened by Ghidorah. Godzilla discovered that powerful sea serpent Tiamat, who shares her name with an ocean goddess from Babylonian mythology, had begun inhabiting one of his old lairs. In contrast to Amhuluk, Tiamat put up a good fight and proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Years after driving out of her home, Godzilla sought her out again, this time with their fighting playing out on the big screen. Killing Tiamat and absorbing her power in Godzilla x Kong allowed Godzilla to achieve his new pink form.

Na Kika

Na Kika hasn't appeared in any Monsterverse movies or shows yet

It’s never been outright confirmed just how many Titans were awakened because of what happened in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but it is known that the aforementioned Titans aren’t the only ones. Among the others is Na Kika, an octopus monster Godzilla rescued from a human terrorist organization in Dominion. After obtaining his freedom, Na Kika swam to safety. Later, he and the rest of the Titans that were still awake were called back into hibernation by Godzilla.

Endopede

Endopede has appeared in one Monsterverse show

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode 1 revealed that in the 1950s, Monarch's Keiko, Lee Shaw, and Bill Randa traveled to Kazakhstan to investigate possible Titan activity. They found eggs containing large bug monsters, which were clearly the offspring of an insect Titan. Officially designed as "Endopede," the creature was fully unveiled in episode 8 when Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' characters investigated its lair in Kazakhstan. Endopede seemingly met its end when Kurt Russell's Lee Shaw set off an explosion, sealing off the Hollow Earth entry point where it had made its home.

The Ion Dragon

The Ion Dragon has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

Apparently, Godzilla was not the first Titan discovered by Monarch. In 1952 (two years before the military tried to kill him), the trio of characters from the show's flashback storyline traveled to the Phillipines where they found the USS Lawton, a nuclear submarine mentioned to have been destroyed by a monster in Kong: Skull Island. Legacy of Monsters confirms the culprit was a flying, horned monster the characters have since labeled "a dragon." Known as the Ion Dragon, the creature was wounded - possibly fatally - by Godzilla in 2015 during a fight in the Monsterverse's Axis Mundi world.

Frost Vark

Frost Vark has appeared in one Monsterverse show

In addition to the Titans mentioned in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Monarch discovered an ice monster living in Alaska in 2015, as shown in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Referred to as the Frost Vark, it feeds on heat. As for why it was it was never mentioned in King of the Monsters, that was explained by the events of Monarch episode 7, which culminated in Lee Shaw destroying Alaska's Hollow Earth rift, and the Frost Vark along with it.

King Of The Monsters’ Missing Titans

Nine Titans mentioned in King of the Monsters still haven't appeared in the Monsterverse

There were 11 Titans in Godzilla: King of the Monsters that were named but not seen. Thanks to Dominion, two of these creatures – Amhuluk and Tiamat – have since been officially introduced into the Monsterverse canon, but nine more are still missing. One, Mokele-Mbembe, was obscured by smoke on a Monarch monitor. Another monster, Leviathan, is supposedly responsible for the Loch Ness Monster sightings. As for the other Titans, it’s hard to say for sure what they are, but each of their names has mythological connections that could provide clues about their identities and appearances.

Skar King

Skar King has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

Revealed as the true villain of the original Titan War that pitted Godzilla against the Great Apes, Skar King was established as the ruler of the Subterranean Realm, one of the many corners of the Monsterverse's Hollow Earth world. Centuries ago, Godzilla defeated the Monsterverse's Skar King and his army of Great Apes and imprisoned him there. Godzilla x Kong unleashed Skar King on the Monsterverse once more, allowing him to renew his plans to take over the surface. With his bone whip, the evil Great Ape proved to be a formidable foe, but was clearly weaker than both Godzilla and Kong, who killed him at the end of the film.

Suko

Suko has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

Labeled "baby Kong" by Bernie in Godzilla x Kong, Suko was hardly the innocent little Titan he may have appeared to be at first. He attacked Kong in their first encounter and tried to lure him into a fight with a giant sea serpent. But as the story developed, Suko and Kong gradually developed a close bond. Suko even wound up serving as an ally to Kong in the battle against Skar King and his Great Ape henchmen.

Titanus Doug

Titanus Doug has appeared in two Monsterverse movies

The Hollow Earth lizard that appeared to have a smile on its face when it devoured a rock critter in Godzilla vs. Kong was affectionately dubbed "Titanus Doug" by some Monsterverse fans. The name was embraced by Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard, who promised to bring back Titanus Doug if he directed another film in the franchise. That chance presented itself in Godzilla x Kong, which featured a cameo from Titanus Doug. Doug was the creature that made off with one of the monster corpses Kong was planning to eat.

Shimo

Shimo has appeared in one Monsterverse movie

Shimo was the center of Skar King's plan in Godzilla x Kong, as well as his partner for the two-on-two showdown for the final battle against Godzilla and Kong. It was revealed in the movie that Shimo, whose cold powers are to blame for the Ice Age, is an ancient Titan forced to do the bidding of Skar King. Using a blue crystal connected to Shimo, Skar King was able to maintain control over the monster until Kong crushed it. By turning her ice blast on Skar King, the Monsterverse's Shimo proved she was never a true villain. And if the scene of Kong riding on her back is any indication, she'll be an ally to Kong if and when the two return.

Titans That Are No Longer Alive After Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

A long list of Titans have lost their lives since being introduced

Several of the Monsterverse Titans haven’t survived their respective movies and are no longer in the picture at this point in the Monsterverse timeline. Aside from Kong himself, Kong: Skull Island featured two other Titans (the oversized Skullcrawler and the Mire Squid), but both lost their lives fighting the ape. As for Godzilla, he too rid the Earth of a pair of Titans, the male and female MUTOs, in his first Monsterverse outing. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, two of the three Toho kaiju included in the action died in the final battle at Boston. Mothra gave up her life essence to give Godzilla a chance to win, while King Ghidorah was killed as a direct result of that sacrifice.
