Netflix has debuted the trailer for Godzilla: Singular Point. The King of the Monsters' next foray into the world of anime was revealed earlier in October. Godzilla: Singular Point is an anime series coming to Netflix in 2021. Studio Ghibli animator Eiji Yamamori is designing the kaiju, while Blue Exorcist creator Kazue Kato is doing the human character designs. The last time Godzilla was adapted into anime was in the movie trilogy beginning with Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. The trilogy was not met with a positive response from fans.

Godzilla is one of the most unique movie franchises of all time. Over the course of 65 years, Godzilla as a character has been reinvented a number of times. He began as an allegory for the atomic bomb, showing the danger of nuclear energy on a population. From there, Godzilla would eventually morph into a heroic figure, even working alongside humans to save Japan. In 1984, Godzilla returned to his horror roots as an unyielding creature capable of toppling an entire city. In 2001, Godzilla was realized as an evil figure who purposely targeted the humans beneath him. Every continuity brings with it a new interpretation of Godzilla, and his world. The next new project in the franchise is Godzilla: Singular Point. The first poster and images recently surfaced, offering viewers a look at two central characters and Godzilla. Now, fans can see the series in action in the first trailer.

During Netflix's anime announcements, the streaming service shared the first trailer for Godzilla: Singular Point. No dialogue is spoken, but the footage shown accompanied by the music is sure to get longtime Godzilla fans excited. Although Godzilla himself doesn't appear much, the trailer confirms the appearances of what appear to be other familiar kaiju. Check out the trailer below.

The biggest reveal in the trailer is the new interpretations of the kaiju. The two-horned Pteranodon creature is likely Rodan, and the spiky creature is most certainly Anguirus. One of the biggest surprises is Jet Jaguar. However, an even bigger surprise is what could be Gabara, the toad-like monster from 1969's All Monsters Attack/Godzilla's Revenge. The fish monster that appears over the ship is speculated by a number of fans to be Titanosaurus. Although not fully shown, there is also another monster swimming underwater.

The trailer poses a number of new questions. Is Godzilla the danger arriving from the depths, and if so, is he leading the kaiju charge? Interestingly, many of the kaiju shown are accompanied by a red mist. This will certainly be important to the storyline. In addition to the two-horned creature presumed to be Rodan, there is what appears to be a one-horned Pteranodon, and an entire flock. Godzilla himself isn't shown in full detail, but what is given does look impressive. As a whole, the anime looks promising. Although the overall story is still being kept under wraps, the trailer does an excellent job building excitement. Those wanting more Godzilla: Singular Point should expect to hear some kind of news during TOHO's online Godzilla Festival 2020 on November 3.
