Godzilla has a habit of obliterating opponents and that's because he is simply too OP (overpowered). The only two monsters that have given Godzilla (aka Titanus Gojira) a run for his money so far are Kong and the mechanized daikauju Mechagodzilla, and even they struggled under his power and strength.

Most monsters in the Monsterverse are limited to five or less special abilities, but Godzilla boasts of numerous ones. With such a wide variety of abilities, he is impossible to beat. Unlike Kong, who has to watch his back even when dealing with humans, Godzilla hardly sees a threat anywhere. His powers prove that only an exact clone would be the perfect opponent for him.

Amphibious Nature

Godzilla fights Kong inside the ocean

Godzilla can function well both in water and on land. Most monsters in this universe can only do one of the two. As seen in Godzilla Vs Kong, the giant reptile swims towards Kong's ship before pulling him into the ocean, where he knows he has the advantage. It is, at this point, that Kong is at his weakest.

Kong is seen struggling because he can only breathe on land, unlike Godzilla who has gills to enable him to breathe underwater. Godzilla's amphibious abilities also make him hard to target. He can stay underwater for months, thus making planned attacks against him difficult.

Atomic Breathe

Godzilla channels his atomic breathe into the sky

Godzilla's atomic breathe is his version of lasers used by superheroes, such as Superman and Supergirl. Even when he is overpowered, Godzilla can use the special kind of breathe to overpower opponents. He does that in Godzilla when the MUTOS briefly get the better of him.

In Godzilla vs. Kong, the monster uses this ability to destroy a couple of human settlements and bases, as well as to fight Kong. The breath also has enough force to bore into the core of the Earth. Most monsters would never match up to Godzilla when he uses this ability, making the fight pretty uneven. Only Mechagodzilla has a similar power.

Durability

Given how hard it is to injure, let alone kill Godzilla, most monsters fighting him would feel discouraged very quickly. In Godzilla, it's revealed that Godzilla survived nuclear tests in the South Pacific back in the '50s. He even withstood the detonation of a 15-megaton hydrogen bomb named Castle Bravo. In addition to that, he survived various tragic events millions of years ago, which made some species extinct.

Missiles and gunfire do not harm to Godzilla. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, he survives a long fall after being dropped by Ghidorah. Ghidorah's Gravity Beams also wound Rodan and kill Mothra, but do no major harm to Godzilla. And after being stabbed by Kong's axe in Godzilla Vs Kong, he shows no sign of pain.

Prehensile Tail

Godzilla stares at the hollow earth

Godzilla's tail works like an anaconda's body. It's strong enough to grab an opponent and squeeze them. It also has enough strength to pull a giant opponent. This becomes evident when Godzilla uses his tail to grab Kong and pull him into the depths of the ocean where the two engage in a fight.

In the event that his arms or legs got badly injured, he would still have a fighting chance, thanks to the prehensile tail. Most monsters don't have this advantage, hence they are resigned to defeat if something happens to their limbs.

Symbiotic Abilities

Godzilla merges with Mothra

Like Venom, Godzilla can also merge with another kaiju. In Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, he symbiotically merges with the lepidopteran daikaiju (known as Mothra), enabling him to generate a radioactive energy pulse that is very useful during duels.

With the pulse, he heats up and melts objects around him. He also manages to burn a huge part of Ghidorah's body. Kong and many other monsters would never dream of such an ability. They would never come up with something to match it either.

Super Speed

Godzilla swims towards the ship carrying Kong

Godzilla also moves at a speed of about 60 knots (69.04 mph) while in water. This is faster than his land speed. He approaches the ship carrying Kong quite quickly, giving everyone no time to react. With such fast movement, no other monster can beat him in a chase.

Godzilla shows his incredible speed once again when he approaches a male MUTO fast enough and slams him onto a skyscraper. While charging at Ghidorah on land, he moves at a speed that wouldn't be expected for a monster of his size. Since attacks are all about speed, Godzilla tends to have a massive advantage against monsters in duels.

General Strength

Godzilla vs. Kong's Aircraft Carrier Fight Scene is 18 Minutes Long

Godzilla is just too powerful. In the franchise, he tosses other monsters around with so much ease. Only Mechagodzilla comes close to his level of strength and that's because he is a machine. Godzilla manages to kill a male MUTO by one single swing of the tail.

Pulling a strong monster, such as Kong, to the depths of the ocean must have required plenty of strength too. His stomp is also strong enough to pierce Ghidorah’s chest with just a single stomp.

Strong Senses

Godzilla rampaging through a city

Godzilla's strong sense of hearing enables him to locate the MUTOs' locations from inside the ocean by listening to their mating calls. His sense of sight enables him to spot Ghidorah in Mechagodzilla before going on a hunt for him.

These senses make it possible for Godzilla to attacks opponents by surprise. They also enable him to defend himself easily as no monster or human would ever come close without him hearing about it.

Razor Sharp Teeth And Dorsal Fins

Godzilla also has the option of biting opponents whenever he feels like being unfair during fights. He has razor sharp teeth that can slice through anything, including buildings, with one MUTO realizing just how painful it is to be bitten by Godzilla.

The teeth aren't the only sharp things in Godzilla's body. The dorsal fins are quite sharp too and can be used to slice another opponent if need be. As a result, Godzilla doesn't need weapons like Kong. He has everything he needs in his body.

Super Intelligence

Godzilla in a laser battle with Mecchagodzilla

Godzilla's IQ is way higher than that of other monsters. During the fight with the MUTOs, he figures out that the best way to defeat them is to let them come close before slamming them. He understands that he has an advantage underwater too, and that's why he constantly tries to drag both Ghidorah and Kong down into the water.

Godzilla proves his intelligence once again when he powers up Kong's ax, using his atomic breath so that Kong can use it to cut through Mechagodzilla's metallic body. While other monsters use brute force, Godzilla thinks before acting, and this makes him way too superior to beat.
