Godzilla: King of the Monsters Alan Jonah (Charles Dance) now has Ghidorah’s head, but the movie doesn’t reveal what he plans to do with it. A post-credits scene showed Jonah purchasing the Ghidorah head that Godzilla bit off during their second fight in the ocean. Is the titan's head part of Jonah's nefarious plot? If so, what possible use could this severed head be?

In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Jonah was one of two masterminds behind a plan to return the Earth to the Titans. After scheming with Emma (Vera Farmiga), Jonah led a group of eco-terrorists to steal Monarch’s Orca and use it to wake Ghidorah and Rodan from their resting places. After a fight between the Titans, Ghidorah let out a call that woke up several other Titans. After being accepted as the new alpha, Ghidorah began to use his abilities to terraform the planet. This wasn’t quite what Jonah had in mind, as he and Emma had planned to gradually wake up the Titans so that they could restore the balance of nature.

Since Godzilla did defeat Ghidorah in the end, Emma and Jonah’s plans didn’t completely fall apart. In fact, the Godzilla: King of the Monsters credits scene indicates that Jonah got what he really wanted. The Titans walking the Earth again did rejuvenate the planet, just as he and Emma believed it would. That being said, it would seem that Jonah wasn’t content with the results. His decision to purchase the Ghidorah head suggests that his mission in the MonsterVerse isn’t over. It could be that Jonah wants to take things even further in the future by causing more Titan destruction.

The Ghidorah head could be the key to making that happen. That’s because it’s not just any Titan head. It belongs to an alien monster who Jonah knows is capable of regenerating lost body parts. According to King of the Monsters director Mike Dougherty, Jonah “sees all the potential uses” in Ghidorah’s DNA [via Telegram.com]. Jonah knows what it means that he now has his hands on alien DNA with regenerative capabilities. If Ghidorah didn’t have this ability, creating a MonsterVerse version of Mecha-King Ghidorah would be impossible with just a head, but even that could happen now, because there’s no telling what his regeneration power’s limitations are.

Bringing Ghidorah back from the dead isn’t his only option, though. Jonah could create Biollante, who is known for being able to regenerate from any wound in Toho’s movies. Or, Jonah could genetically engineer an organic Titan that’s original to the MonsterVerse. Regardless of which direction he goes in, it’s likely that whatever Jonah plans to create from this will be a creature he’ll intend to control in Godzilla 3. What went wrong with Ghidorah is that he ended up doing as he pleased, so it’s possible that Jonah took something away from that. It could be that he now believes that his plans can be better executed if he has a way of directly controlling Titans. Since it seems that mind control is possible in the MonsterVerse, Jonah may keep a tight leash on whatever weapon he creates from Ghidorah’s DNA.
