Our most anticipated movie of 2014 is none other than the Godzilla reboot coming by way of Legendary Pictures and director Gareth Edwards (Monsters). The Godzilla teaser trailer set the whole world buzzing about the return of the king of monsters, in a reboot that is thankfully worlds away from the 1998 Roland Emmerich film, and much closer to the classic Japanese kaiju films that made Godzilla an icon.

Exact details about the new Godzilla have been carefully guarded; we know that stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers 2) bolster the human side of things with a story about a soldier and his girl separated by the Godzilla event, while other human characters (like Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston) either help investigate/combat the monster or fall victim to its swath of destruction. We also know that Godzilla won’t be the only monster in the film; in classic fashion he’ll be doing battle with other huge beasts as well.

A new Godzilla teaser poster has been released, and it – along with the previously released teaser poster form a strong thematic bond with the teaser trailer, basically highlighting the disastrous event that is Godzilla’s arrival at major American city:

So far, the amount of ambiguity and tantalizing dread has been perfectly balanced to create a lot of excitement around this film without actually revealing much at all. The design of new Godzilla monster – as well as any monster(s) he may face – are still being left to the imagination, which is an impressive feat in this age where everything seems to get spoiled early.

Still our most anticipated film of the year – how about you?
