New fan art brings together two of the most iconic films of all time - The Godfather  and The Shining. Both films are widely seen as some of the greatest of all time. Francis Ford Coppola's masterpiece is only usurped by the sequel to his original film, which was widely reevaluated after negative critical reception. The Godfather is still fresh on the minds of cinephiles with the recent rerelease of The Godfather Part III and a Barry Levinson film in the works about the making of the iconic film.

The Shining, too, has remained a staple of American cinema. Recent sequel Doctor Sleep, starring Ewan McGregor, may have floundered at the box office, but remains an effective adaptation of the Stephen King novel. HBO Max has also ordered a prequel series called Overlook that will delve into the iconic hotel's murky past. Despite the fact that King has made his disdain for Stanley Kubrick's adaptation known, the film has stood the test of time and has arguably become Kubrick's masterpiece.

Now, a fan poster from Butcher Billy combines the two in one eerie invitation. Done in the style of the original Godfather poster, the black-and-white piece features the mysterious bloodied man from The Shining who appears to Wendy during the film's climax. With blood dripping down his forward, the man says, "Great party, isn't it?" to Wendy, one of many ghostly figures she sees during The Shining's terrifying culmination of Jack Torrance's pent up rage. Check out the poster below:

Both The Godfather and The Shining have stood the test of time and become two of the most revered films of the 20th century. Fans of The Shining and Kubrick still parse through the film searching for hidden details that hint at the underlying eeriness of the Overlook Hotel. Shelley Duvall, the actress who famously played Wendy Torrance and left Hollywood years later, has been a figure that many have focused on as the epitome of The Shining's success, both through her alienation at the hands of Kubrick and her powerful performance.

The Godfather is an altogether different beast, but one that is strikingly similar to The Shining in its cultural impact. Both films will remain staples of American cinema it seems and although the two will never meet on screen, the poster is a nice bit of synergy between two of film's most hailed masterpieces. Both The Godfather and The Shining continue to draw interest years after their premieres and it seems that the hype may never die down for both films, true indicators of their power as tour de force films.
