Many God of War fans are understandably anxious about seeing spoilers for God of War Ragnarök before its release, and it now seems as if the PlayStation 5 itself is threatening to ruin the game. The new God of War game concludes the Norse saga storyline of Kratos's journey, and players around the world are anxious to see how Kratos and his sons fight for survival against Aesir Gods Odin and Thor wraps up.
The PS5's Explore tab is revealing leaked spoilers for God of War Ragnarök by showing "related content" from YouTubers and other content creators, ruining a lot of enjoyment for fans. As reported by LifeHacker, the PS5 automatically follows games that players preorder or wishlist. By following a game, the PlayStation UI advertises links to videos it believes players would be interested to see. Those who are following Ragnarök or have preordered the game on the PlayStation store may see a thumbnail or headline spoiling significant parts of Kratos and Atreus' journey - including its ending. Thankfully, there are ways to avoid this before the game's release.
PS5 Owners Can Avoid GoW Ragnarök Spoilers By Changing Their Settings
God of War fans on the PlayStation 5 can avoid being spoiled by the PS5's Explore tab by going into their PS5's settings, selecting Saved Data, then Followed Games, and finally, Manage Followed Games to unfollow God of War Ragnarök. Fans can take further steps to avoid God of War Ragnarök's ongoing spoiler situation by taking advantage of the PS5's spoilers filter. This can be turned on by going to Settings, Saved Data, and then enabling the option to hide spoilers in the Spoiler Warnings tab.
Following the above-mentioned steps will hopefully prevent the PlayStation 5 UI from accidentally spoiling major parts of the game. Still, fans worried about spoilers should try their best to avoid the internet until they can play through God of War Ragnarök on their own. The finale to Sony Santa Monica's Norse saga unfortunately leaked early, and the only effective way to guard against spoilers is to limit intake of those channels that could funnel spoilers into a given feed. This is why many fans avoid social media prior to a game's release, or take advantage of things like Twitter's Mute Word function.
Enjoying the epic conclusion of the Norse Saga in God of War Ragnarök spoiler-free will definitely be the best way to experience Kratos' next journey. While spoilers shouldn't ruin the experience overall, there's still a lot to be said about surprises and seeing them for the first time as they were intended. Hopefully, Sony will find a way to prevent the Explore tab from ruining these experiences for fans, meaning future PlayStation exclusives won't fall victim to the same problem.
