Warning: This guide contains spoilers for God of War: Ragnarök.

After the credits roll in God of War: Ragnarök, the realms remain open for players to explore, with new post-game areas and tough endgame challenges to test their skills. In the aftermath of Ragnarök, players can continue to explore the nine realms to collect lore and artifact collectibles, as well as complete any leftover Favor side quests. Observant and thorough players will also find that the fall of Asgard isn’t quite the end of this chapter in Kratos’ story. God of War: Ragnarök offers several post-game activities, allowing players to provide a few of Kratos’ allies with a proper ending to their own stories, and in turn providing a more satisfying and thorough conclusion to God of War’s Norse saga.

God of War: Ragnarök’s coveted platinum trophy requires players to complete quests such as petting Kratos’ loyal sleigh wolves Speki and Svanna, but to earn some of the game’s trophies, players will have to engage with post-story content. This includes battling tough high-level bosses as well as exploring newly unlocked areas in a few of the realms Kratos and his allies visited during the story. Aside from revisiting well-trodden ground, new areas can also be found in Niflheim, the domain of Odin’s Ravens, and in Muspelheim where players can triumph in Surtr’s trials. Finally, budding florists searching for flowers from the nine realms can visit a small part of Midgard that will undoubtedly be familiar to players of God of War.

Uncover A Secret In Niflheim

God of War Ragnarök Kratos Looking At Niflheim Aesir Prison Wreckage

Players may already be familiar with Niflheim, the icy realm that’s home to Odin’s Ravens in God of War: Ragnarök. When killing Odin’s Ravens across the different realms, players can return here to open special gear chests. On finding and killing all the ravens, players can actually return to Niflheim and battle the Raven Keeper, an ally of Odin’s and a powerful, high-level optional boss.

In the post-game, Kratos will receive new realm seeds from the squirrel Ratatoskr, allowing him to journey to new areas. One of these new areas is Niflheim’s Mist Fields, where players can complete one of the game’s Berserker Gravestones. Fans will also come across Niflheim’s Aesir Prison Wreckage, a new optional area. Aside from finding Niflheim’s only Nornir Chest, players who battle their way to the bottom of the prison will find one of the game’s most interesting secrets, which neatly wraps up one of the main story’s plot threads.

Battle A Deadly Foe In Muspelheim

God of War Ragnarök Kratos Looking At Valkyrie Queen Gna Boss Battle Area Entrance In Muspelheim

The combat trials in Muspelheim’s Crucible are a valuable source of crafting resources players can use to upgrade their weapons and gear. However, like Niflheim, there’s more to Muspelheim than players can explore on their initial visits. During the final part of the story, players might have overheard Kratos’ Valkyrie allies speaking amongst themselves about Gna, Odin’s new Valkyrie Queen. Players who visit Muspelheim can challenge and defeat her in battle.

In the main Crucible arena where players can find one of Muspelheim’s rare Nornir Chests, a small gap in the arena’s stone wall can be found. By going through it and climbing the walls using the Blades of Chaos, players will reach a small area where Gna can be found and battled. Gna is undoubtedly one of the game’s toughest bosses and players will want to have fully upgraded Kratos’ weapons, armor, and gear before taking her on. However, anyone who successfully challenged the previous game’s Valkyrie Queen will find some of Gna’s attacks familiar enough.

Players who haven’t yet beaten Muspelheim’s Crucible to get the game’s Trials By Fire trophy and claimed some of God of War: Ragnarök’s rarest crafting resources might like to do so, as fighting the Valkyrie Queen is no small challenge. Defeating her helps provide Freya with some closure to her own tragic tale.

Collect A Flower And Put The Berserker King To Rest In Midgard

God of War Ragnarök Kratos Visiting Freya's House In Midgard's Sanctuary Grove

By journeying to Midgard in the post-game, players can access a small new area known as the Sanctuary Grove. Notably, players will already have visited this area as Atreus, but this marks the first time Kratos can visit this location. Centered around Freya’s old house, this area contains Midgard’s Mirkweed, a flower players need to complete the Nine Realms In Bloom quest and earn The Florist trophy.

Players who’ve beaten all of the Berserker Gravestones in the other realms will also be able to challenge King Hrolf, the Berserker King at King’s Grove. It’s worth noting that one Berserker Gravestone is found in Niflheim’s Mist Fields as detailed above, and as such players will need to beat the story to reach it. Like Gna, Hrolf is one of God of War: Ragnarök’s tough post-game bosses and an extremely challenging fight overall. Hrolf uses many of the abilities and attacks that the other Berserkers use, and players will need to have mastered their attack combos, runic abilities, and more to defeat him.

Visit Friends In Alfheim And Jotunheim

God of War Ragnarök Kratos Visiting Angrboda At Angrboda's Treehouse In Jotunheim

After battling the Valkyrie Queen and King Hrolf, players might like to visit their friends and allies in other realms to see what they have to say. Lunda the blacksmith, whom players may remember from God of War: Ragnarök’s Lunda’s Lost Armor Favor will occasionally suggest that Kratos visit her at the

blacksmith’s shop in Alfheim’s Canyons region. On arriving, players will experience a brief encounter that shows them the true fate of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir.

Ratatoskr will also give Kratos a realm seed for Jotunheim. Although players will have already visited this area as Atreus, Kratos can also pay Angrboda’s Treehouse a visit. Aside from collecting Jotunheim’s Ironbell for the Nine Realms In Bloom quest, players can also chat with Angrboda about Ragnarök and thank her for her aid.

Attend A Friend’s Funeral In Svartalheim

God of War Ragnarök Kratos Visiting Beach At Sverd Sands In Svartalheim

Unpacking God of War: Ragnarök’s ending can take some time, and players who would like to mourn Brok after his untimely death at the hands of Odin can attend his funeral. After the post-game starts, several characters will express that they would like to attend Brok’s funeral at the tavern in Svartalheim. On visiting the tavern, those gathered will explain that the funeral will take place at Sverd Sands. This location is easily accessible by taking the ferry from the Aurvangar Wetlands Mystic Gateway or the elevator up from the Applecore Mystic Gateway.

Once there, players can pay their respects and witness Brok’s Viking funeral for themselves. At this point, the credits will also roll for the final time. With God of War: Ragnarök reportedly not receiving DLC, players might prefer to wait until after they’ve completed everything else, making Brok’s funeral a fitting and suitably dramatic ending to God of War: Ragnarök and the series’ Norse saga as a whole.
