God Of War Ragnarok’s Kratos and Atreus cosplays have been more popular than ever since the game’s release in November. Many God Of War Ragnarok Kratos and Atreus cosplays were shared leading up to the awaited game’s release back in November. Both characters are, after all, adored by the GoW community, and the complex relationship between them is always an attractive point of debate and reflection. It is uncertain if there will be a new GoW game after God Of War Ragnarok, but the fans’ love for these multi-layered deities is sure to not fade away in the long run.

God Of War Ragnarök’s Kratos Cosplay Nears Perfection

The popular and versatile cosplayer known as Maul on Instagram is one who embraced the God Of War Ragnarok Kratos and Atreus cosplays trend with an impressive recreation of the Spartan warrior. For the character’s reinterpretation, they followed Kratos’ look in God Of War Ragnarok’s Scandinavia. As such, they wear multiple layers of leather armor and a few plate armor pieces on their bracers and shoulder pad. The second picture in Maul’s Instagram post even features them holding God Of War’s Leviathan Axe, Kratos’ signature weapon in the Norse mythology saga, which was initiated in 2018.

Atreus’ God Of War Ragnarök Look Captured In Cosplay Photoshoots

Following Maul’s Kratos, the artist known as Korriban shared a God Of War Ragnarok Atreus cosplay. Their interpretation of Atreus’ older self is fitting for the new game’s release since Kratos’ son is a few years older than he was in the previous title. Curiously enough, both Maul and Korriban worked together in a group cosplay photoshoot, showing God Of War Ragnarok’s Kratos and Atreus cosplays side-by-side in the wilderness. According to Maul’s post, they actually made both costumes and worked on them for six weeks, being commissioned by PlayStation Germany and Santa Monica Studio.

A Kratos Cosplay Complete With The Blades Of Chaos

Taking a different approach to Kratos’ armor sets in God Of War Ragnarok, the artist known as Badgerlock shared their interpretation of the Spartan god-killer on Instagram. For this Kratos cosplay, they wear what seems to be the Blazing Magma armor set from the 2018 game. In their hands are the iconic Blades of Chaos, which Kratos gets back in the previous title, while the red backlight seems to set the tone for the violent outbreak that happens in Ragnarok’s story.

Atreus Cosplay Captures All Of Ragnarök's Details

Another impressive God Of War Ragnarok Atreus cosplay is the one shared by cosplayer Kenny Thomaz on Instagram. Attending Brazil Game Show (BGS) in October, Kenny showed his cosplay to the public, with great attention to detail. With the new game coming out, they adapted their outfit to match Atreus’ set in the sequel. Kratos does not call Atreus “boy” in God Of War Ragnarok anymore, and Kenny’s cosplay seems to exemplify exactly why: they adopt Atreus’ more mature look and personality, fitting the new title.

One of the most eye-catching Atreus cosplays was made by the artist known as Abi (opal.ink.cosplay on Instagram). Abi’s work on this recreation comes to show why this is one of the best God Of War Ragnarok Atreus cosplays. Her attention to detail is notable in the character’s outfit and extends to the intricate makeup to simulate Atreus’ scars, freckles, and overall facial expression. Hanging from her neck is the mistletoe arrowhead that caused Baldur’s downfall in the 2018 game.

Host to the best and worst sections in GoW Ragnarok, Atreus struck a chord with Abi, who also showed great technical prowess by adequately adjusting the lighting for the photoshoot. As a complement to the whole Atreus cosplay, she also mentions one of Atreus’ quotes in her Instagram post: "Time is running out. The prophecy says Fimbulwinter will lead to Ragnarok. War is coming! My story doesn't end hiding in these woods!"

Two Cosplays Make Kratos And Atreus Stars At God Of War Ragnarök’s Launch Party

Similar to Maul and Korriban’s group cosplay, Jonny and Abi actually worked together to bring God Of War Ragnarok’s Kratos and Atreus cosplays to life. They, in fact, did so well, that they were invited as attractions to the game’s red-carpet launch party event, as a part of the marketing campaign. At the event, her version of Atreus even carried a replica of Mimir’s severed head, as seen in her Instagram post. According to Abi on Instagram, the project commissioned by Santa Monica Studio made her “walk away inspired to be better” at cosplaying, with the intention of becoming a part of the gaming industry.

God Of War Ragnarok’s ending offered players some complex emotions, so it is expected to continue seeing fans bring forth even more creations in honor of the PlayStation-exclusive game. While a few of God Of War Ragnarok’s best Kratos and Atreus cosplays were highlighted, social media is buzzing with cosplays of other beloved characters, such as Freya and the Valkyries.
