While Kratos wears Mimir's head on his belt in God of War (2018), it's now clear that the wise mythological figure looks just as great as a Christmas ornament. Kratos and his son, Atreus, meet Mimir partway through their travels in the 2018 entry; before long, the former advisor to Odin joins the duo on their journey to the highest peak in the Nine Realms.

Similar to his role in Norse mythology, Mimir provides council to Kratos and Atreus, offering assistance whenever it's needed - even if it isn't necessarily wanted. Mimir is favored amongst fans for the stories he tells during boat rides, too, as he regales listeners with tales about the likes of Týr, Odin, Baldur, and Freya. Based on the little shown of God of War: Ragnarök the severed head of the Smartest Man Alive will join Kratos and his boy on their next big adventure, too. Now seems as good a time as any to celebrate the holiday season with a bit of Mimir-centric cheer before the trio makes their triumphant return next year.

Reddit user Okakopa17 recently took to the God of War subreddit to share an image of the Mimir Christmas tree ornament his wife purchased. The tiny bauble bears an incredible amount of detail, from Mimir's horns and beard to the lines adorning his face and the shape of his eyes. Okakopa17 told commenters the Mimir ornament came from Etsy user GeekForgeEtsy, though, at the time of writing, the item is sold out. There are a couple of God of War-themed items still in stock, however, namely a Bifrost trinket and refrigerator magnets modeled after the head of Mimir, ash bag, and Bifrost. While this particular product isn't currently available, those interested may want to bookmark the GeekForgeEtsy page and check back every so often. Hopefully, the Mimir ornament will eventually be in stock once more since it does seem to make a fine Christmas tree decoration.

The God of War franchise returned in early 2018 after a yearslong hiatus; Kratos had long abandoned the Greek world that he tore asunder, though. His travels led him to Scandinavia, where he remarried, fathered another child, and tried his best to lay low. Of course, keeping a low profile can only last so long for someone like the God of War. Whatever chaos awaits in God of War: Ragnarok is bound to ensure that Atreus' latent abilities don't remain under lock and key for very long, either.
