The Greater Crest of Flame in God of War is one of the most challenging resources to farm, but it can be used to upgrade some of the game's best gear as well. Similar to some of the other rare materials God of War's Greater Crest of Flame isn't something that Kratos and Atreus can find in Midgard, nor is it on the path of the main story. Instead, players will have to explore the game's extra locations to get Greater Crest of Flame.

Some of the items God of War's Greater Crest of Flame is used to upgrade are the "Gauntlets of the Valkyrie" and the "Muspelheim Eye of Power" enchantments used in the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will absolutely love using the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages, as it is essentially God of War's Infinity Gauntlet. Given that the Muspelheim Eye of Power enchantment is the God of War version of the Power Stone, it makes sense why the Greater Crest of Flame is one of the more difficult materials to come by.

Where to Get Greater Crest of Flame

Kratos and Atreus in the realm of Muspelheim looking at a Valkyrie in God of War

Before players are able to get the Greater Crest of Flame, they'll need to unlock the ability to travel to Muspelheim via the Bifrost Bridge on the Lake of Nine. While there are seven Muspelheim cipher locations in God of War, players only need to find four of the ciphers before traveling to the realm of fire and brimstone.

The Muspelheim ciphers are easy to find, and four of the seven can actually be found before reaching Mimir on the Mountain. For those who are looking to access Muspelheim quickly and get Greater Crest of Flame in God of War as soon as possible, four of the seven ciphers can be found at The Mountain, Cliffs of the Raven, Forgotten Cavers, and Alfheim.

How to Farm Greater Crest Of Flame

Getting God of War's Greater Crest of Flame will take some time once players reach Muspelheim. First, Kratos and Atreus will have to beat five trials of Muspelheim on their normal and hard versions. Next, players will have to beat the Valkyrie Gondul. Gondul is the sixth and final trial of Muspelheim, and like the other Valkyries, she'll be one of the toughest challenges for Kratos and Atreus to face.

After Gondul has been defeated, players will finally have the ability to complete the "impossible" variations of the Muspelheim Trials. Once an impossible Muspelheim Trial has been cleared, players will earn a key to Surtr's Hidden Trials in the location where they originally fought Gondul. Unlike the previous trials in God of War's realm of Muspelheim, Surtr's Hidden Trials are based on a bronze, silver, and gold ranking system. Earning a silver placement in Surtr's Hidden Trials will reward players with God of War's Greater Crest of Flame.

Players who get Greater Crest of Flame in God of War will be able to carry the material over with them in the game's New Game Plus mode. However, the Muspelheim Trials must be completed once more if players decide to collect all the ciphers again during their second playthrough. More rewards can actually be earned when the Muspelheim trials are cleared during the new playthrough, as players will earn the Gauntlets of Zeus for defeating Gondul in God of War's New Game Plus as well.
