Realm Shift returns in God of War: Ragnarök as a unique ability players can use to slow down time and gain a valuable edge over their enemies in combat. Combat in God of War: Ragnarök is often tricky, with players required to balance hard-hitting weapon combos with parries and dodges, as well as making use of weapon abilities and Kratos’ skills to crush their enemies. As such, any advantage players can get over their enemies is important and Realm Shift, which allows players to momentarily slow down time when performing a perfect evasion, is an extremely useful ability that players of all skill levels will be able to benefit from. However, in God of War: Ragnarök, Realm Shift is tied to specific pieces of armor that players will need to track down and obtain.

The epic conclusion to God of War’s Norse saga, God of War: Ragnarök has players traveling across a world deep in the grip of Fimbulwinter in search of a way to prevent Ragnarök from ever coming to pass. As Kratos, players will journey across the nine realms, battling the gods of Asgard and coming into contact with well-known figures from Norse mythology. As players might expect, Kratos does not stand unopposed and to progress, players will have to master the game’s intense combat and make use of abilities such as Realm Shift in order to survive and emerge victorious.

How To Unlock Realm Shift In God Of War: Ragnarök

God of War Ragnarok Alfheim All Realm Shift Radiance Armor Set Pieces Map Locations

Players can unlock Realm Shift relatively early in God of War: Ragnarök’s 30–35-hour long story. At the conclusion of the Groa’s Secret main story mission, players can continue exploring Alfheim’s barren deserts where they can track down the Radiance armor set. This consists of the Shoulder Straps of Radiance, Gauntlets of Radiance, and Belt of Radiance. The locations of all three items are marked on the map above.

The easiest armor piece to obtain is the Gauntlets of Radiance, which are found in a chest at a small Dark Elf temple in the northernmost part of the Barrens. Players must first clear out several Dark Elves to gain access to the chest. To obtain the Belt of Radiance, players should journey to the giant skeleton in the Barrens, using God of War: Ragnarök’s best runic attacks to clear this area. At the end of this mini-dungeon, players can find the belt in a similar chest. Finally, to obtain the Shoulder Straps of Radiance, players will need to complete the Secret of the Sands Favor as this armor piece is located in a legendary chest at the end of the quest area.

Once these armor pieces are equipped, players can trigger Realm Shift and slow down time by performing perfect evasions. Players will be able to use Realm Shift once they’ve equipped either the Gauntlets or the Belt. However, when both pieces are equipped, Realm Shift’s duration increases from 1 second to 1.75 seconds. The Shoulder Straps synergize with the rest of the set and have the chance to grant players a temporary boost to their Runic stat after any perfect evasion. As always, players can use their hard-earned resources to upgrade all of these armor pieces at Brok and Sindri’s shop. Realm Shift can be a game-changing ability, and players will generally want to have all three Radiance armor set pieces equipped in order to maximize its power and utility in God of War: Ragnarök’s combat set pieces.
