Fox's Glee premiered in 2009 and was an instant success. The show follows a small Ohio town's high school glee club. In this high school, the glee club isn't the most popular place to be, but as the story progresses, the school's class system crumbles and the glee club becomes a place for anyone and everyone who wants to join. One of the most successful elements of the series is the extremely talented cast full of triple threats that can make viewers laugh and cry with both their acting and their singing.

Pitch Perfect

The first film in this franchise is one that any Glee fan will love. When Beca goes to college, she finds herself auditioning for the all-girl competitive acapella group, The Barden Bellas.

Beca at first doesn't feel like she fits in with this new crowd, but finds her place and helps her fellow lady singers compete in the big acapella competition. There's a lot of great singing in this film and some really fun mash-ups, which Glee was also known to do from time to time.

Fame

There's a good chance that the inspiration for Glee came from the '80s hit movie Fame, about a performing arts high school in New York. This classic musical film was re-made in 2009 with a new cast of triple threat teenagers that provided a lot of entertainment.

The caliber of talent in Glee and in both the original and the remake of Fame is pretty incredible and if you're a performer yourself, this film will definitely leave you feeling inspired.

10 Things I Hate About You

The high school dynamic always makes for a good theme because there are so many variables and characters to write into the setting.

The class system in high school and the way teenagers relate to one another has always been a classic storytelling tool and in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, those classic high school themes and characters are the central focus. There's even a musical number in this film, which fans of Glee will love.

High School Musical

The glee club in this series has a strong appreciation for musicals and popular songs from Broadway are featured heavily throughout the six seasons. If you love musicals just as much, you should definitely watch High School Musicalstarring a very young Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.

This movie doesn't focus on a popular musical but creates its own and there are a lot of great original songs performed through the film.

The Breakfast Club

This is another movie that takes a deeper look at the high school hierarchy. If you love the way Finn and Quinn and the other popular kids in school find their place in the glee club and how they all learn to get along and appreciate one another, then you'll really love the '80s classic, The Breakfast Club

When the rebel, the popular girl, the jock, the outcast, and the nerd all find themselves in Saturday detention, they learn that they may not be so different after all.

Camp

For fans of Glee who have never seen this 2003 campy musical movie, it should be at the top of your watchlist.

Raise Your Voice

Hilary Duff stars in this teenage film about an aspiring singer who faces a lot of challenges while pursuing her dreams. For fans of Glee who appreciated the real and difficult storylines each character had while navigating life and adolescence, you'll appreciate this film for the same reasons.

Not only does Hilary Duff's character Terri struggle with navigating her way to her dreams, but she also must cope with a family tragedy that almost makes her give up on her dreams.

The Last Song

This Nicholas Sparks romance film stars Miley Cyrus as Ronnie. Ronnie has always been very gifted musically, but in her current rebellious teenage phase, refuses to hone or share her gifts.

Ronnie starts to soften up and change when she meets and falls in love with Will. Like Glee, this film uses music to bond two young characters and make them realize the feelings they have for one another.

Easy A

Not only was Glee dealing with hard topics teenagers face and churning out incredible musical numbers every week, but it is also one of the funniest television shows ever written.
