Two of the teen shows that absolutely defined the beginning of the new millennium, Glee and Gossip Girl share more similarities than just love for the letter G. They both lasted beyond 100 episodes, both had shortened final seasons, both experienced the apex of their fame and cultural relevance on their first two seasons, and they both lost them, ending their run as a mere ghost of what they once were.

Furthermore, they were both the starting point for several young performers who have gone on to have successful careers. Among their cast of exceptionally beautiful characters, it's easy to imagine some of them would actually work together as a couple. Others might clash so much, they would literally be the worst. And with so many possibilities, it's fun to imagine what could be.

Would Work: Jenny & Artie

Jenny began Gossip Girl as a young girl, desperate to be part of the It crowd and willing to do everything to achieve it. Artie, for his part, was a somewhat lonely boy, very mature for his age but still prone to unkind behavior.

By the end of their respective shows, they have both grown-up and are at a point in their lives where they would be a power couple. Jenny has a successful partnership with Waldorf Designs, finally working in the field that she truly loves. Artie, for his part, is an up-and-coming director who's about to screen a film in the fictional "Slamdance Film Festival." They have both moves past their petty high-school behavior and can enter an equal partnership, supporting each other's achievements without feeling threatened by them.

Wouldn't Work: Vanessa & Sam

Vanessa was Gossip Girl's resident intellectual. She read a lot, took an interest in social causes, and looked down on Dan's rich friends for their blatant materialism and obscene wealth while enjoying the perks of said wealth multiple times. On the other hand, Sam was a sweet but very simple-minded young man with no real ambitions or aspirations.

Sam was, in a lot of ways, Glee's equivalent of Nate Archibald. It's safe to say, then, that just like Vanessa and Nate's doomed affair, Sam and Vanessa would never work. She would have grown tired of him quickly, and he wouldn't have been able to keep up with her.

Would Work: Emma & Cyrus

Emma Pillsbury was McKinley High's Guidance Counselor, who suffered from severe Mysophobia and OCD. Her romantic partner on the show, Will Schuester, did her wrong a lot of times and often failed to understand the extent of her mental illness.

Someone like Cyrus would have behaved much better. He was sweet, understanding, patient, and supportive, making him the ideal partner for Emma. He would have certainly helped deal with her issues while providing her with all the love and encouragement she deserved.

Wouldn't Work: Blair & Finn

One of the de facto protagonists of Gossip Girl, Blair was the controlling, scheming, spoiled, and at times, a cruel heiress to the Waldorf fashion business. For his part, Finn was a kind-hearted and loyal young man who cared little about appearances or wealth.

If Finn had trouble keeping up with Rachel, there's no way he would have given Blair everything she wanted. She was too high-maintenance and fickle, while he was too passive and unassuming. And while he would have certainly given her some of the peace she needed, she would have ultimately left him to go back to the chaos she seemed to love.

Would Work: Eric & Blaine

While they were a fan-favorite couple, Kurt and Blaine were wildly chaotic together. They were constantly jealous of each other's achievements and were shown to be awfully incompatible. Blaine was too needy and emotionally vulnerable, while Kurt was somewhat cold and even distant.

Having gone through so much, Eric was a much more mature character. And while he sometimes was dragged to the Upper East Side drama, he didn't indulge in the vicious takedowns his friends and family seemed to enjoy so much. Eric would be a much better partner for Blaine, as he is shown to be level-headed but still loving and caring. This would contrast nicely with Blaine's more impulsive nature, giving them a nice balance.

Wouldn't Work: Brittany & Dan

Just like Vanessa, Dan, too, liked to think he was above everyone else. He saw himself as a morally superior character, above the pettiness of Serena and company, despite the fact that he turned out to be Gossip Girl. This attitude would instantly clash with Brittany's happy-go-lucky philosophy.

Moreover, Brittany's ditzy and innocent personality would soon annoy Dan. And while Brittany was proven to be a secret genius, she was also fiercely independent and wouldn't feel the need to prove anything to Dan. All things considered, the relationship would end in no time.

Would Work: Santana & Serena

Santana was as fierce as she was confident. Her no-prisoners attitude, along with her undeniable talent, soon earned her the respect of those around her. She would have no time for Serena's childish dramas and would quickly put the It-Girl in line.

However, once the two got past the initial animosity, it's easy to see why they would make so much sense together. Santana was unapologetically supportive and faithful, something Serena would relish. With Santana's encouragement and love, Serena would easily thrive, while the latter's connections and wealth would make it easier for the former to achieve the fame she so wanted. These two would have a great time together, uplifting each other along the way.

Wouldn't Work: Lily & Will

Throughout their time in their respective shows, Lily and Will did a lot of questionable things to the teenagers they surrounded themselves with. And time and again, they proved they weren't the most mature or emotionally intelligent adults.

Pairing them together would be extremely toxic. Lily's tendency to hide things from her partners would thrive, thanks to Will's obliviousness and self-centeredness. And while these two would maybe last longer than some other couples, they would live a fake life full of deceit and appearances.

Would Work: Quinn & Nate

Quinn went from head-cheerleader to teenage mother, to rebellious senior, to a seemingly put-together college student. Her journey was full of ups and downs, but she managed to come out on top in the end, finally happy and comfortable with who she truly was.

For his part, Nate was one of television's sweetest guys. Famous for never sending a tip to Gossip Girl, he genuinely cared about his friends, even if they didn't always reciprocate. Together, Nate and Quinn would maybe indulge in their worst materialistic impulses, but they would also undeniably care for one another. They would also create some beautiful babies, and if they were smart enough to leave New York and Lima, they would certainly find happiness in the suburbs.

Wouldn't Work: Rachel & Chuck

If there was a pairing that would be extremely toxic, it would be that of Rachel Berry and Chuck Bass. Self-absorbed, ambitious beyond belief, and willing to go to the extremes to get their way, these two would quickly implode.

Rachel and Chuck would encourage each other's worst impulses and would arguably become worse people together. She would use his wealth to get her way every single time, turning into a more domineering and selfish diva. For his part, he would use her for his many schemes, taking advantage of her indisputable talent. As a couple, they would be as feared as they were loaded, and their influence would soon cover everything from the Upper East Side to Broadway.
