In FOX's hit musical series Glee, Artie Abrams was a beloved character with big dreams and an even bigger personality, and viewers quickly grew to love him and his storyline. He went through a lot of ups and downs throughout the series, but ultimately all in all had a very happy ending by the time the series ended.

Although he was a very loved character and one of the main characters, he had his fair share of nonsense storylines continue to come through his way. These are the ones that stick out as making absolutely no sense!

His Age

Of course in a popular television series like Glee, it can be difficult to keep up with all of the main characters and their ages, but Artie's is quite possibly one of the more confusing ones. In season one episode titled "Wheels," he confesses to Tina that he was in a car accident when he was 8 years old and that he had been stuck in his wheelchair for eight years, adding that he was only 16 at the time. Later on in season three episode titled "The Purple Piano Project," he says that he is 17 years old, but the only way that he could be 17 is if he were held back a year and it just wasn't mentioned in the storyline!

"Safety Dance"

Artie leads a large crowd in a dance number in Glee

In season one, after Bryan Ryan (portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris) asks the Glee club to write down their biggest dreams on a piece of paper Artie writes his down and then quickly throws it away. Shortly after, Tina finds the piece of paper and reads that his dream is to become a dancer- which, with him being in a wheelchair, could be a quite difficult task. Artie later goes to the mall and imagines a flash mob doing the hit song "Safety Dance" with him leading the crowd with amazing dance moves. After the episode ends, Artie never mentions becoming a dancer again throughout the rest of the series.

His Relationship With Tina

Artie and Tina were a fan favorite couple from the beginning, but as the series went on viewers quickly learned that he wasn't the best boyfriend to her and that they weren't quite right for each other. Throughout season one, he consistently avoided her to play video games and spend time with his other friends, along with not being there for her when she needed him.

The beloved couple ended pretty quick at the beginning of season two and Tina found herself in the arms of Glee alumni Mike, which ultimately led to Artie joining the football team to try to get her back. Since the two of them started out as friends, it doesn't make too much sense as to why the creators thought it would be better to end their relationship and friendship all in one.

Making The Football Team

Glee was a series all about inclusion and making everyone feel like they could do anything or be anyone they want to be. But a big mistake that wasn't continued throughout the series was letting Artie join the football team. Not only was his wheelchair on the field a huge safety issue, but it was also incredibly unrealistic. He was only on the football for a couple of episodes, but this storyline was quickly forgotten and never mentioned again.

The Justin Bieber Experience

In season two after Artie, Puck, and Mike see how all of the girls in Glee club react to Sam Evan's performance of Justin Bieber's "Baby" they all decide to form together to create their own boy band called The Justin Bieber Experience. Sadly, this group only lasted one episode and only performed one song being "Somebody To Love" this group definitely had some serious potential and could have quickly become a bigger storyline in the series if it wouldn't have been shoved under the rug.

His Relationship With Brittany

When Artie and Brittany became a couple in season two, not many knew what to think about their random relationship as there was no lead up to what would become their short-lived time together. Although the two were all in all a cute couple for their time being, it really didn't make any sense to put them together in the first place since Artie was still in love with Tina and Brittany still had feelings for her best friend Santana.

They were only together for a few episodes of season two and brought along a couple of great comedic moments on the show, but their relationship quickly ended after Santana told Artie about Brittany just using him to get solos in Glee club. Which brought a needed end to their random and completely out of nowhere relationship.

His Leg Braces

In season two episode titled "A Very Glee Christmas," Brittany gifts Artie the greatest gift of all- a pair of leg braces allowing him to walk! This sounds incredible, but unsurprisingly, this special moment only lasts for one short episode. Since Artie had been in his wheelchair since a young age, seeing him be able to walk with assistance from the braces gave a small ounce of hope for viewers- and the fact that we never get to see the braces again throughout the series really makes no sense as to why the creators wanted to give that small ounce of hope in the first place!

His Date With Becky

Becky smiling widely

Becky quickly became a beloved character on Glee as she worked alongside Sue Sylvester and the Cheerios, but as soon as she showed a small interest in Artie her priorities quickly changed. She asks him out to dinner in season three, to which he agrees and after their dinner, she asks if he wants to come to her house and have sex. Of course, he declines and tells her that they should just stay friends. But the two of them never end up having any type of communications throughout the rest of the series, so their so-called "friendship" ends along with their date.

His Short Friendship With Quinn

Along with Glee's habit of bad continuity comes super short-lived friendships between main characters. After Quinn Fabray is injured in a car accident on her way to Rachel and Finn's wedding in season three's episode titled "On My Way," we start to see a new friendship blossom between her and Artie after she is forced to be in a wheelchair. Artie helps Quinn come to terms with her condition and shows some of the better parts of being in a chair which causes them to become closer than ever.

Of course, in natural Glee fashion, Quinn's time in a wheelchair only lasts for a couple of episodes and their friendship turns distant as soon as she is walking again.

His Pact With Tina

In season six, Tina confides in Artie that she is jealous of all of her high school friends getting married and being in happy relationships so she has decided to propose to Mike. Artie, of course, tells her that this is a bad idea and he throws out the idea that if the two of them are still single by age 30 they will just marry each other since they have such great chemistry and still love each other- Tina ultimately agrees and they go on with their lives. For them to come up with a huge pact after having such a rocky relationship in high school doesn't really make much sense, but perhaps their relationship would work out much better at a more mature age!
