Peacock releases a first look at Girls5eva season 2. The series focuses on the lives of four members of a girl group named Girls 5Eva, who enjoyed a brief stint of stardom in the year 2000. After a young new rapper samples one of their songs, the old gang reunites to give fame another shot, all the while balancing the problems of normal life. Making up the 90s music group are Sara Bareilles as Dawn, Paula Pell as Gloria, Busy Philipps as Summer, and Renée Elise Goldsberry as Wickie.

Teasing the upcoming season, Peacock has now released a new clip suggesting the group's comeback continues to be far from smooth. As a hospitalized Gloria is told that she requires a knee replacement, the group appears determined to work through the pain after being promised a promo tour. Though she laments that the label won't want her "post-op from a Hannibal Lecter board," her friends rally to assure her with tales of past performances, including Wickie singing Christmas songs in spite of an exploded gallbladder and Summer's Teen Choice duet after discovering her snake was poisonous. The series currently holds a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and garnered considerable praise from critics upon its premiere on May 6, 2021. Created by Emmy Award-winning writer Meredith Scardino, the series is executive produced by Jeff Richmond, Robert Carlock, David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Tina Fey, who also features in the show as an imaginary Dolly Parton. Renewed back in June, Girls5eva season 2 is now scheduled to arrive on May 5, 2022.
