Marnie Michaels is easily one of the most cringy characters in television history. Lena Dunham and Judd Apatow truly nailed her role as the self-obsessed millennial who believed she was destined to be the next big starlet. Out of all the characters on Girls, Marnie Michaels was often the worst, thanks to Allison Williams's incredible acting chops.

She perfected the role of the delusional narcissist to perfection and it's one of the reasons her character stood out so much and received the most laughs. With that being said, here are 10 ways Marnie became more and more insufferable as the series went on.

REFUSING TO BREAK THINGS OFF WITH CHARLIE

Despite the fact that Marnie was in a long term relationship with Charlie, she would spend an incredible amount of time bad-mouthing him behind his back. Charlie was absolutely crazy about Marnie, yet she was unable to find him attractive due to the way he smothered her with affection.

Unfortunately, Marnie came from a broken home where she assumed she needed to end up with a man who would treat her like dirt. She couldn't accept Charlie's unconditional love, so instead, she decided to talk poorly about him when he wasn't around rather than addressing the situation head-on.

PLAYING WITH CHARLIE'S EMOTIONS

Marnie loved to play with Charlie's emotions and she would consistently use him only to stroke her own ego. Whenever she broke up with him, Marnie would always try to win him back just so she wouldn't end up alone.

When Charlie finally seemed happy with someone else, Marnie would crawl back into his life and mess with his feelings yet again. She frequently led him on and used him for her own personal gain.

SINGING KANYE WEST AT CHARLIE'S PARTY

Marnie seems to suffer from Michael Scott Syndrome where she assumes she isn't making a complete fool out of herself when in reality she is.

Marnie clearly has delusions of grandeur when it comes to how people perceive her, and she thinks she's the next best thing when in reality she's a human cringe-fest. The fact that she covered Kanye West's song "Stronger" just proves how genuinely delusional she can be.

ACTING LIKE A DICTATOR AT THE BEACH HOUSE

We all remember that classic beach house episode of Girls when Marnie acted like a total dictator throughout the entire trip. Although it was intended to be a vacation and the girls were supposed to have fun on a nice relaxing trip, Marnie wanted to have control over every single situation.

She had a specific vision for how she wanted the vacation to go, and if her plans were broken, she'd get all sulky and furious. We have to admit, it was pretty hilarious watching all of her plans fall through.

SLEEPING WITH RAY

Perhaps the thing that better illustrates how bad Marnie got was sleeping with Ray. Not only was he Shoshanna's first love, but he was also completely crazy about Marnie despite the fact that she treated him like he was the gum on the bottom of her shoe. She never took her relationship with him seriously, and she never respected him as a person.

Despite the fact that she knew how much he loved her, she still continued to use him as a prop to satisfy her own ego. Shoshanna was heartbroken when she found out her best friend was sleeping with her first love. Who wouldn't be? That seems to happen a lot in this friend group.

DICTATING HANNAH'S BIRTHDAY PARTY

During Hannah's 25th birthday party, Marnie hilariously tried to dictate the entire night in order to gain some control over the fact that Charlie broke her heart. She needed something to look forward to, so she placed all her energy into Hannah's party.

It was a sweet enough gesture, yet in reality, she tried to make the night all about her. One of the worst parts was when she tried to sing "Take Me Baby Or Leave Me" from Rent in front of all of Hannah's friends and family. It was too cringy to fathom!

SLEEPING WITH DESI DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND

One would think that Marnie would've learned her lesson about not sleeping with people who she most certainly shouldn't be jumping into bed with.

First, it was Booth Jonathan, then it was Ray, and after that, of course, it was Desi. Despite Marnie being well aware of the fact that Desi was taken and in a serious relationship with someone else, she still actively pursued him. Poor Clementine!

HER BRUNCH PERFORMANCE

One of the most hilarious Marnie-moments on the show was when she and Desi performed their folk songs at a brunch spot. They were throwing a get-together because Hannah was officially leaving for her Iowa workshop.

Yet, of course, Marnie made the event all about her. She even said during her performance that she would scat for the audience. Yikes! No one wants to listen to that.

HOW SHE ACTED AT HER WEDDING

Another classic episode that emphasized Marnie's controlling nature was during her wedding in season 5. Marnie was an absolute nightmare to be around and she made everyone feel uncomfortable on her special day. Even her makeup artist left because she couldn't stand to be around Marnie!

NOT CARING WHEN RAY'S FRIEND DIED

One of the hardest moments to watch on the series was when Ray had to deal with the death of his good friend Hermie who he's worked with for years now.

Marnie couldn't even pretend to be there for Ray because she was so concerned with her own life and it was clear at that moment that she didn't care about Ray in the same way that he cared about her. Finally, Ray couldn't take it anymore and he ended things with Marnie. Good for him!
