Shows are often criticized for casting adults to play teenage characters, but how old are the actors who play the main characters in Ginny & Georgia? Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia tells the story of the titular mother/daughter duo as they attempt to balance beginning a new life in the fictional New England town of Wellsbury while keeping the dark secrets of their past. Ginny & Georgia follows both Ginny and Georgia’s forays in trying to fit in, Ginny with other teens and Georgia with adults, respectively. However, how do the ages of Ginny & Georgia’s cast compare to the characters they play on the Netflix show?
Though the characters of Ginny & Georgia are mainly teens and adults, the main and supporting cast of the show is exclusively adults save for Austin. Antonia Gentry as Ginny Miller
Antonia Gentry plays the main character Ginny Miller in Ginny & Georgia, the teenage daughter of Georgia who struggles with typical high school problems as well as keeping her mother’s secrets. Ginny is 16 years old in Ginny & Georgia, having celebrated her birthday in season 1 of the Netflix show. Antonia Gentry was 23 years old when Ginny & Georgia season 1 was released, meaning that Gentry is now 25 years old, almost 10 years older than Ginny.
Brianne Howey as Georgia Miller
In Ginny & Georgia, the titular role of Georgia, the Miller family matriarch, is played by Brianne Howey. Georgia was still a teenager when Ginny was born, which means she is likely in her early thirties in Ginny & Georgia. Brianne Howey’s real age is actually comparable to the character she plays in the Netflix show, as she was 31 when the first season of Ginny & Georgia came out. Howey is now 33 years old, meaning she is still at a similar age to Georgia.
Felix Mallard as Marcus Baker
Felix Mallard plays Marcus Baker, who is one of Ginny’s main love interests in both seasons of Ginny & Georgia. Though Marcus has a good heart, he also has a dark side. In the Netflix series, Marcus is 16, as he and his twin Max (Sara Waisglass) celebrate their joint birthday during season 2. When Ginny & Georgia first released, Felix Mallard was 22 years old, making him 7 years older than Marcus. Mallard is now 24 years old in real life compared to his high school-aged character.
Sara Waisglass as Maxine "Max" Baker
Max Baker, one of Ginny’s best friends in Wellsbury and the ‘M’ in MANG, is played by Sara Waisglass in Ginny & Georgia. Though Max cares deeply about her friends, she has the tendency to be a little self-involved, especially when it's her birthday. Along with her twin brother Marcus, Max turned 16 in season 2 of Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia. In comparison, Waisglass, like many of her costars, was 22 years old when Ginny & Georgia season 1 came out and is 24 years old.
Diesel La Torraca as Austin Miller
Austin Miller, Georgia's son with Gil Timmins and Ginny's younger half-brother, is played by Diesel La Torraca in Ginny & Georgia. In the Netflix show, Austin is 9 years old and is shown to be a fan of Harry Potter, hence why he sometimes wears glasses. Diesel La Torraca was also 9, just as his character was when Ginny & Georgia season 1 was released, making him currently 11 years old in real life.
Scott Porter as Mayor Paul Randolph
Wellsbury’s town mayor, Paul Randolph, who is played by Scott Porter, never has his age specified on Ginny & Georgia. In the pilot episode of the Netflix show, Georgia remarks that he looks like a “young JFK,” meaning he’s likely in his 30s or early 40s at the most. Scott Porter (who also played Jason Street on Friday Night Lights) is a similar age to Paul, as he is 43 years old in real life.
Raymond Ablack as Joe
On Ginny & Georgia, Joe, the owner of the Blue Farm Café in Wellsbury, is played by Raymond Ablack. A flashback in Ginny & Georgia season 1 shows Joe and Georgia originally meeting as teenagers while Joe was on a school field trip, which would put Joe in his early 30s, similar to Georgia. In real life, Raymond Ablack is currently 33 years old, which would make him a similar age to the character he plays on Ginny & Georgia.
Katie Douglas as Abby
Katie Douglas plays Abby, who is one-fourth of the friend group MANG, in Ginny & Georgia. Despite caring about her friends deeply, Abby is often overlooked by them, which is shown to impact her mental health. Given Abby is a high school sophomore like her other friends, Abby is either 15 or 16 years old in Ginny & Georgia. Similar to the other actors playing the teenagers of Ginny & Georgia, Douglas is 24.
Mason Temple as Hunter Chen
Ginny’s ex-boyfriend, Hunter Chen, is played by Mason Temple in Ginny & Georgia. After finding out at the end of Ginny & Georgia season 1 that Ginny cheated on him with Marcus, Hunter has spent much of season 2 trying to get over her. Hunter is also a high school sophomore, making him 16 in the Netflix show (he drove himself and Ginny to and from their first date in the pilot episode). In real life, Temple was 24 when Ginny & Georgia first came out and is now 26 years old, making him 10 years older than the character he plays on the Netflix show.
Nikki Roumel as Teenage Georgia
Although Georgia Miller is primarily played by Brianne Howey, teenage Georgia is played by Nikki Roumel in Ginny & Georgia’s flashback sequences. Teenage Georgia is shown at a range of ages, from 15 when she first got pregnant with Ginny to her early 20s, when she was involved with Austin’s dad, Gil. Nikki Roumel is currently 22 in real life, making her the perfect age to play teenage Georgia in more recent Ginny & Georgia flashbacks.
Nathan Mitchell as Zion Miller
Ginny’s dad, Zion Miller, is played by Nathan Mitchell in Ginny & Georgia. Though Zion loves Ginny and tries to be a good father, he has been something of a rolling stone up until recently, when he settled down near the rest of the Miller family in the Netflix series. Both he and Georgia were teenage parents when their daughter Ginny was born, with the former being 17 years old at the time of Ginny’s birth. This means that in the present day, Zion is 33 years old in Ginny & Georgia. At 34 years old, Mitchell is a similar age as his character Zion is.
Chelsea Clark as Norah
Another one-fourth of MANG is made up by Norah, who is played by Chelsea Clark in Ginny & Georgia. After the events of the Netflix show’s season 1 finale, Norah sticks by Max’s side during season 2, although she clearly misses the other members of MANG. Since she is a high school sophomore in the Netflix series, Norah is either 15 or 16. In comparison to her teenage character, Clark was 22 years old when Ginny & Georgia first released and is now 24 years old in real life.
Aaron Ashmore as Gil Timmins
In Ginny & Georgia season 2, Gil Timmins, Austin’s father who was imprisoned for embezzlement and fraud, is played by Aaron Ashmore. Gil’s age in Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia is not ever specified. However, in flashbacks, Georgia is initially led to believe that he was a good man with a stable paying job, so he was likely either in his mid-20s or possibly 30s, which would put him in his mid- to late-30s or even early 40s in the present day. While Gil’s age, like many aspects of Gil’s life, isn’t known specifically, Aaron Ashmore is currently 43 years old in real life.
