Of all the love stories on Gilmore Girls, many fans would agree that Luke and Lorelai's is the most exciting. From the opening scene, she's the coffee-obsessed customer and he's the diner owner who pretends that he can't possibly give her her caffeine fix. Everyone realizes that these two should date before they finally start their relationship.

Luke has a reputation as a grump and he sometimes talks about not believing in destiny, but he loves Lorelai so much that he eventually puts aside his hang-ups, and the two end up together. From the first seven seasons of Gilmore Girls plus the revival A Year In The Life, these Luke and Lorelai scenes are swoon-worthy.

Lorelai Goes Shopping For Luke

There are reasons why Luke and his ex-girlfriend Rachel are good together, but of course, nothing compares to the love that he shares with Lorelai.

In the season 1 episode "P.S. I Lo...," Lorelai goes shopping for Luke. Initially, she's buying a gift for Rachel's birthday on Luke's behalf, but Lorelai also picks out some fancier clothes for him. While he's reluctant to try a new look, he feels good in the new clothes, and he appreciates that Lorelai cares about him. This is one of the sweetest scenes that the characters share and it's one of the earliest clues that they will end up a serious couple.

Luke Finds Out That Lorelai And Max Aren't Getting Married

It's fascinating to watch Luke get news of Lorelai and Max's relationship and, later, their engagement. It's clear that he's jealous and upset but he doesn't want those emotions to show... until he can't hide it any longer and his dislike of Max becomes obvious.

When Lorelai gets home from her post-breakup road trip, she goes to Luke's diner and tells him that she wants to open her inn with Sookie. Before she does, though, Lorelai and Luke share a sweet exchange where he apologizes for being a "jerk" about her being with Max. He says that he feels guilty and they agree to move on. But Luke is clearly happy that Lorelai is single once again, and it's sweet that they can speak candidly to each other.

When Luke Says "I'm All In"

While Luke and Lorelai are on their first date, Luke explains that he is fully committed and wants to be with Lorelai. He says, "This thing we're doing here, me, you — I just want you to know I'm in. I am all in."

This is one of the most romantic moments on the show and it's even better because it's hard for Luke to express his feelings. He doesn't share very much of himself or his personal life, and the fact that he can be vulnerable with Lorelai says a lot.

Luke Creates An Ice Skating Rink For Lorelai

Anyone who knows Lorelai is aware of her love for snow and there are some great Gilmore Girls winter episodes.

Luke makes an ice skating rink for Lorelai in front of her house, and she's totally surprised. Luke says that it's "not a big deal" and Lorelai says that it is and that she can't believe he would do this for her. Luke shares that when he was a child, he loved hockey, and his father made him an ice rink. Luke explains that he would love for Lorelai to have a good relationship with snow again and he says, "I'm grumpy about stuff but I don't want you to be." It's tough not to swoon and smile watching them skate together.

Luke And Lorelai Watch Casablanca

In the season 4 episode "The Fundamental Things Apply," Lorelai gets really excited to watch Casablanca with Luke. She's surprised that he has never seen such a classic movie, but he says that he hasn't seen most movies, which is believable since he spends most of his time at the diner.

Lorelai is hilarious in this scene, asking Luke if he's comfortable and checking to see how he's enjoying the movie. Many couples are thrilled to show each other a favorite film or a movie that the other person will find meaningful. While Lorelai asks Luke to join her for the typical Gilmore movie night because Rory is at Yale, it's still romantic and they clearly have chemistry.

Fans always hoped that these two would end up together, but it wasn't always clear that a wedding was on the horizon, so this was an exciting scene. But at this moment, Lorelai and Luke are totally in sync and in love.

In the season 7 finale "Bon Voyage," Stars Hollow comes together to say goodbye to Rory, who has graduated from Yale and is leaving for her first grown-up job. It turns out that Luke is the one who planned the whole thing, which is a super romantic gesture. He and Lorelai had been broken up for a while, but he didn't let that stop him from showing that he still cared about Lorelai and Rory.

At the end of the episode, Lorelai thanks Luke for all that he has done, and he says, "I just wanted to see you happy." When they kiss, it's exactly what viewers want to see. It's also a perfect spot for a kiss, as they're standing in town with sparkly lights all around them.

The season 1 episode "Rory's Birthday Parties" has many funny and sweet moments, including when Luke shows up at Lorelai and Rory's house with ice.

This is, of course, helpful, but it's also a romantic and sweet moment because Luke wants to be around Lorelai and he's thrilled to get the chance to come over to her place. Since Luke isn't a social person and isn't one to go to many gatherings, this is definitely a big deal and proves that he has strong feelings for his favorite customer.
