The Gilmore Girls gave a young Rami Malek his very first acting gig. Gilmore Girls is a comedy-drama created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and centers around mother/daughter duo Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel), and the various cast of characters in their town Stars Hollow. The show debuted back in 2000 and thanks to its mix of comedy and drama - combined with its rapid-fire dialogue - made it a huge success. The original show ran for seven seasons in total, though the departure of Amy Sherman-Palladino before the final series resulted in season 7 being considered the weakest.

The show returned for a one-off miniseries dubbed Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life in 2016. This caught up with the titular duo years after the end of the series and detailed how their lives had progressed. This miniseries was well-received by fans and critics but despite ending on something of a cliffhanger, there don't currently appear to be any plans for Gilmore Girls to continue.

Quite a few future stars came through Gilmore Girls, with Melissa McCarthy playing a major role as Lorelai's bestie Sookie on the original show. Actors like Jared Padalecki and Milo Ventimiglia also got their acting breaks on the series. It also provided Rami Malek with his very first screen credit as Andy, a member of Lane's (Keiko Agena) bible study group during season 4 episode "In The Clamor And The Clangor."

Andy is a pretty small role so Rami Malek didn't get much of a chance to shine during his Gilmore Girls' appearance. From there, Malek would book assorted gigs like uncredited voice work on video game Halo 2, sitcom The War At Home and a guest appearance on season 8 of 24. The star really broke through thanks to his lead turn on Mr. Robot before winning an Oscar for his work playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Rami Malek would later reflect on his brief appearance on Gilmore Girls during a chat with Vulture, expressing shock people even realize he was on the show and remembering being somewhat awestruck with how fast the dialogue was spoken. Rami Malek will next be seen as a mysterious new villain in No Time To Die, which will mark Daniel Craig's fifth and final outing as James Bond. While fans have speculated Malek's character could be a new take on classic villain Dr. No, his exact role in the film has yet to be confirmed.
