For a lot of fans, Gilmore Girls has become the ultimate comfort show to binge in the fall or marathon on a snowy day. Although the series was initially canceled in 2007, Netflix revived it in 2016 for a miniseries. While that was also beloved, the original series is still the most popular.

Which season is best is up for debate among viewers, however the premiere episode is always a big indicator of what's to come. Resolving cliffhangers, introducing new characters, or starting and ending relationships integral to the plot can make or break an episode. Some of Gilmore Girls season openers got fans hooked, while others felt messy and rushed.

Season 7, "The Long Morrow"- 7.8

Rory in The Long Morrow

For the final season of Gilmore Girls, creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino parted ways with the series, which made the storylines and characters a little different. New writers were left to handle the aftermath of Lorelai sleeping with Christopher after a fight with Luke, thus ending their engagement and possibly destroying their relationship forever.

The bright spot of Season 7's premiere was the Rory and Logan storyline. Recently starting a job in London, he and Rory begin their long-distance relationship, and he gifts her a toy rocket. She is confused by its significance, and later realizes it's symbolic of an episode of The Twilight Zone she and Logan once watched. One that Logan declared was about true love. It's an adorable gift, it's just a shame it takes viewers just as long to catch on.

Season 6, "New and Improved Lorelai"- 7.9

Luke and Lorelai kiss

Luke and Lorelai are engaged! During the Season 5 finale, Lorelai proposed to her longtime friend, and this episode reveals Luke's answer. Thanks to Taylor, their news spreads through town like wildfire, leaving them overwhelmed and Luke in search of the perfect ring.

Lorelai can't talk to Rory about her upcoming nuptials because she is facing a judge for stealing a yacht weeks prior. The judge orders her 300 hours of community service, and she arrives at her new 'home' (her grandparents' pool-house) before her boyfriend, Logan throws her a party for officially being a felon. Fans adored Luke and Lorelai's love, while not being a fan of Rory's struggles.

Season 4, "Ballrooms and Biscotti" - 8.0

Gilmore Girls season 4 premiere

For years Lorelai and Rory planned to go backpacking through Europe during the summer before Rory went off to college, and this episode chronicles them returning from the trip and sharing souvenirs with all of their townie friends.

A pregnant Sookie reveals to Lorelai that she and Jackson are expecting a baby boy, and Luke surprises Lorelai with the news that he got married to Nicole on a cruise ship. Rory soon realizes she has to leave for Yale sooner than expected, which sends her and Lorelai into a frenzy of accomplishing their last minute goals. It's a fine episode but has almost too much going on to stay invested in one storyline.

Season 3, "Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days" - 8.2

Luke kisses Lorelai

This episode features a fake-out dream sequence where Lorelai and Luke are married and expecting twins. Fans were given a glimpse into what these friends would look like as a couple, complete with a kiss, only for it to be not real.

Elsewhere, Rory is completing her summer internship in Washington D.C. and helping get Paris ready for her first date with an intern named Jamie. When Rory returns home to Stars Hollow, she's still in a relationship with Dean, despite pining over Jess and getting jealous over his new fling.

Season 5, "Say Goodbye to Daisy Miller"- 8.3

Gilmore Girls season 5 premiere

After losing her virginity to a married Dean in the Season 4 finale, Rory is prompted by Lorelai to spend her Summer with Emily in Europe, away from Stars Hollow and the drama that comes with it. Rory is mad that her mother is ruining such a pivotal moment in her life, while Lorelai is disappointed that Rory is partially responsible for breaking up a marriage.

The redeeming plot of this episode is the Luke and Lorelai one. During the previous season finale, the two finally admitted their feelings for one another and shared a kiss on the porch of Lorelai's inn. They are separated by distance in the premiere but share a sweet moment over the phone promising to discuss their relationship when Luke returns.

Season 2, "Sadie, Sadie" - 8.3

Lorelai and Rory talk in front of a crowd

The Season 2 opener wraps up the loose ends of the cliffhanger from the Season 1 finale. Max Medina has just proposed to Lorelai with a thousand yellow daisies, and she's contemplating whether or not she should say yes.

Meanwhile, Rory is working hard to get community service hours for her Harvard application done. She is spending most of her days building houses with her Chilton peers, which leads to her boyfriend Dean feeling neglected. Eventually, they find time for one another, and Lorelai decides she is going to accept Max's marriage proposal.

Season 1, "Pilot" - 8.3

Lorelai looks over Rory as she reads a book

The episode that started it all on October 5, 2000. Fans were introduced to young, hip mom Lorelai, her precocious teenager daughter, Rory, and the charming town of Stars Hollow in this 40-minute endeavor.

The pilot does a good job of setting up what's to come throughout the series; Rory starting a new prep school so that she can achieve her dreams of getting into Harvard, and Lorelai reconnecting with her estranged parents over Friday night dinners while they pay for Rory to go to Chilton.
