A second revival season of Gilmore Girls may still be on the table, thanks to the reveal of a get-out clause in the Palladinos' Amazon deal. The series was revived for the first time last year, with Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. The revival picked up the story as an adult Rory (Alexis Bledel) returns to Stars Hollow at a difficult time in her life, and takes place over one year (and four extra-long episodes).

Since A Year In The Life premiered, fans have been hoping to get more Gilmore Girls, especially after the revivial ended on a cliffhanger moment when Rory revealed to Lorelai (Lauren Graham) that she is pregnant. While this would seem like an obvious lead-in to more episodes on the way, another season hasn't been announced. Talks were underway earlier this year, but star Graham wondered if it was necessary to continue, and then creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino signed a multi-year Amazon Studios deal, seemingly shutting down the possibility.

Now, however, TVLine has revealed that this may not be the end of the line for Gilmore Girls. According to sources for the site, the Palladinos' deal with Amazon includes a clause that allows them to return to Netflix for a follow-up to A Year In The Life.

Of course, this is far from a confirmation that there will be a follow up to the Gilmore Girls revival.  The clause simply allows the Palladinos to create a second revivial series if they choose to, and if the rest of the cast is onboard for more. The pair are currently working on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for Amazon, which is sure to be their top priority for the time being.

While this news doesn't mean that there definitely will be more Gilmore Girls on the horizon, it does mean that the possibility still exists - which is fantastic news for fans of the series. It's great news for Netflix as well, as the revival was a massive success for the streaming site. Should the show return, fans will presumably get to discover who, exactly, is the father of Rory's unborn child - and what she plans to do about the situation. While any future seasons may struggle to live up to the success of previous episodes and the original show, it would still be a fantastic way to truly wrap up the series, as A Year In The Life seemed to ask as many questions as it answered.
