Gilmore Girls is filled with moments that seem to repeat themselves or foreshadow an event in the future. For over 7 seasons, fans watched Rory Gilmore grow up into a young lady, while her mom grew with her since she didn't have the typical childhood. It was in those moments in the early seasons that foreshadowed what could come in the future.

Whether intentional or not, some things came true after a brief conversation or passing moment throughout Gilmore Girls. It's the ongoing connection from season 1 to later seasons that made these foreshadowing moments come full circle.

Rory Warned Lorelai That She Coddled Her

Even though Rory and Lorelai were incredibly close and loved spending time together, Lorelai coddled Rory. Lorelai fought most of Rory's battles and she never had to go through any real adversity.

In the second season, Rory warned Lorelai that she coddled her too much and that she was never going to learn about the real world because of it. This foreshadowed Rory's future in her college years and after. Rory aged poorly when she found herself struggling when things didn't go her way and didn't handle criticism well.

1, 2, 3, He's Yours

In one scene, Lorelai and Rory are at Luke's Diner but Rory can barely stay awake. As a way to keep her alert, the two played a game they called "1, 2, 3, He's Yours." In the game, Lorelai had to choose the first, second, or third random guy that came her way. If she denied the first guy, she assumes the second guy would be better than the first, and so on.

Just as Lorelai denied a chance with the second guy, Luke came over. Rory said, "Hey, Luke came to the table, does that make him number three?" This can be seen as foreshadowing because Lorelai did end up choosing Luke at the end of the series.

Rory Should Have Taken Her Own Warning

Some of Rory's biggest mistakes were at Yale, she started to rebuild her friendship with Dean. To prove the two were civil, he delivered a bookcase to Rory at her dorm room. It was there that they talked about their futures and Rory found out that Dean was taking time off from college.

Rory was livid that Dean would choose a life with Lindsay instead of education. She told him those who took breaks from school never go back or have a hard time going back after too much time away. Ironically, it was Rory who took time off from college and found herself in a downward spiral. Her warning to Dean foreshadowed her own future.

Paris Was Right...

Paris and Rory didn't always get along — especially when they were in high school. While at Chilton, Paris was too competitive with Rory to ever appreciate the friend she was. When the time came for Chilton to choose a valedictorian, Rory took home the honor instead of Paris.

Funny enough, one of Paris's truthful quotes was when she told Rory that valedictorians don't always end well. "Oh, yeah. A lot of business failures, crumbled marriages..." she said. And as fans saw in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Rory was part of the valedictorians who had unstable relationships and a failed career.

Awkward Dance Partners

When fans first met Christopher, they weren't sure how to perceive him because Lorelai was so wary about having him in Stars Hollow after so many years away.

They stopped by Miss Patty's where Lorelai, Christopher, Rory, and Dean got roped into a mini dance lesson. At this time, the series was focused heavily on Rory's relationship timeline with Dean, so it was surprising when they had no rhythm or connection. Miss Patty commented how in sync Christopher and Lorelai were but it was not the same for Rory and Dean. This moment foreshadowed that Dean and Rory were never right for each other and they were out of rhythm.

Rory's Tell-All Was Foreshadowed In Season 1

Rory talks to Lorelai in bed about her tell-all on Gilmore Girls

As diehard fans know, Rory wanted to write a book about her life and relationship with her mom at the end of A Year in the Life. Lorelai was not fond of the idea of having some sort of tell-all out there in the world because her upbringing wasn't a pleasant one. Oddly enough, however, Rory gave an inkling of her idea for a tell-all in the first season.

Lorelai listened to a voicemail so many times that it woke up a sleeping Rory. When Lorelai apologized, Rory responded, "It’s okay, it's all fodder for the tell-all.” Could this mean Rory had this idea in her head since she was a teen?

Dormroom Slumber Parties

It didn't get sweeter than Lorelai spending Rory's first night at Yale with her in the dorm. Both women were nervous about their new beginning, so it was fitting that they would spend their first night at Yale as a unit.

Adorably, Lorelai saw this happening back in the early seasons. Lorelai didn't want Rory to spend the night next door. Rory reminded Lorelai that one day she would have to go to college and that Lorelai should prepare herself. Lorelai told her daughter, "I'll go with you, I will sleep on the floor in your dorm, next to your bed." Years later, Lorelai's statement came true.

French Food & Lorelai

Right before Lorelai was supposed to marry Max, Luke delivered a chuppah for their outdoor wedding. As they sat there and talked about love, Luke said if she was lucky enough to find a person who didn't try to change her or make her eat French food, then marriage could be a good thing.

Lorelai never ended up marrying Max, but she did marry Christopher, who tried to make her eat French food. The two got married in France and while she craved a burger, he brought her French food. It's as if Luke called it before it happened.

Rory And Conflict

Mitchum Huntzberger talking to Rory on Gilmore Girls

In season 3, Paris and Rory were part-time enemies and battled during student body meetings because Paris didn't trust Rory. Headmaster Charleston had a meeting with the two of them and warned Rory about her future. He said, "I would advise you to think long and hard about accepting any responsibility if you intend to run away from it at the first sign of conflict." His words bothered Rory as she didn't see herself in that way. But fast forward to her time in Yale, that's exactly what happened.

After the end of her internship with Mitchum Huntzberger, he told Rory that she didn't have what it took to be a journalist. His words wounded her, she stole a yacht, got arrested, and dropped out of Yale. Was Headmaster Charleston foreshadowing the future?

Luke's Character Reference

Lorelai talks to Chris about the character reference on Gilmore Girls

When Lorelai and Christopher gave their relationship another chance, he handed her a letter he received from his ex-Sherry. Lorelai was surprised Christopher was so forthcoming and showed her the letter. She asked him sarcastically, "You're sure you don't want to stash it away somewhere and then I find it—accidentally, of course—months from now, and I get all weird and insecure about why you didn't show it to me sooner?"

Oddly enough, this is what happened a few episodes later when Christopher found Lorelai's character reference for Luke. Just like she said, she kept the letter from Christoper and hid it in a drawer until he found it, thus making him insecure. This moment led to Lorelai & Christopher's divorce.
