At the end of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the audience is left reeling wondering what will become of the Gilmore Girls following Rory's pregnancy.

With Rory's relationship with Logan being known, he's likely the father of her new child. This has to make the fans wonder about what story is about to unfold. Looking back on the series, it's hard not to see the similarities between Christopher and Logan, as well as Luke and Jess. There are some blatant comparisons between the serious relationships of Lorelai and Rory.

Outward Appearance

Christopher and Logan dress quite similarly with nice clothing and expensive cars. Considering the fact they both come from money, it makes sense they have enjoyed and utilized the finer things. Luke and Jess, on the other hand, are quite modest, dressing in casual clothing. While Jess only wears flannel once to mock his uncle, they both are often in casual jeans and shoes.

Though this doesn't seem like it'd make much of a difference in a relationship when Rory and Lorelai date men from the high-class lifestyle, they're being pulled more into the lifestyle Lorelai fought so hard to get away from.

Social Behaviors

One of the most important Gilmore Girls episodes involving Luke is when he finally gets the nerve to ask Lorelai on a date. Like Luke, Jess is quick to make it clear that he's interested in Rory (despite her being in a relationship at the time). However, both men are obviously less social and only engage in gatherings when necessary.

Logan and Christoper, on the other hand, are comfortable and sociable at gatherings and parties. Though Lorelai and Rory clearly love the peaceful serenity of a small town like Stars Hollow, they also enjoy going out and having fun. Where Jess and Luke were their peace, Christopher and Logan were their excitement.

Interests

Luke and Lorelai may not seem to share a lot of interests, but they love their small town and the life that comes with it. Jess and Rory have a shared interest in books and are often seen connecting through literature. Though these couples' personalities seem to clash, they complement each other in a way that works.

Christopher and Lorelai connect through their shared childhood but often have conflicting interests and views as adults. Logan has a knack for getting into dangerous situations he deems fun but was always the biggest conflict within his and Rory's relationship.

Aspirations

Luke and Lorelai are both business owners that did an excellent job of creating a prosperous life for themselves. And though he may have seemed like a slacker, one of Jess's best decisions in Gilmore Girls was following his passion for books and joining Truncheon Books. Rory also follows her passion in the same way.

Christopher and Logan, despite sharing some interests with the women, let their drive for financial success lead their careers. By the end of the series, and seen within Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the men end up in powerful positions with wealthy companies.

Relationships

Christopher doesn't appear to have many committed relationships besides Sherrie, who he plans on cutting ties with before she gets pregnant. Lorelai, on the other hand, dates a few times, but most of her relationships are serious and long-lasting. Similar to Christopher, Logan seems incapable of a commitment until Rory.

Luke, like Lorelai, has a few relationships, but they're all women he's committed to. Jess, like Rory, doesn't have many long-lasting relationships (though there are large gaps in his storyline), but when he's with her it's clear he's happy being in a relationship.

Family Attitudes

The huntzbergers and the haydens - gilmore girls

The Hayden family always blamed Lorelai for getting pregnant so young and supposedly ruining Christopher's life. Though Christopher wasn't the worst parent in Gilmore Girls, he never really stood up to his own parents for Lorelai as he should have. Similarly, Logan's family was cruel and dismissive of Rory, which he mostly chose to ignore.

Luke's sister Liz, who is also Jess' mother, and her husband TJ are like family to Lorelai and Rory. Even after Lorelai and Luke broke up, Liz knew that they were good together and made comments hinting towards her knowledge of their love for each other.

Temper

It's Christopher's temper and jealousy that inevitably end the marriage between him and Lorelai. Though he and Rory are able to mend things, Logan also harms their relationship by letting his own anger at the world and his life sully their loving relationship.

Luke has a temper of his own, but it always seemed far more controlled when he was happy with Lorelai. Jess also seems to have his own anger spells, but they're more directed towards people that want him to do things he feels he isn't capable of.

Impulsiveness

When Lorelai impulsively asks Luke to marry her, and not wait any longer, he isn't ready for this spur of the moment and that's what ends their first relationship. In turn, it's Lorelai's impulsiveness that causes her to quickly marry Christoper while they're in Paris.

Rory, on the other hand, can't go with Jess when he impulsively asks her to go away with him. She also can't marry Logan when he proposes to her right before and again after she graduates.

Lifetime Friendship

Christopher and Logan were never able to have a normal friendship with the Gilmore women. Though Logan is in Rory's life in the revival, they're having an inappropriate affair while he's engaged to another woman.

Luke and Jess, however, are always in the Gilmore Girls' lives. Luke is obviously in Lorelai's life because they're in a relationship, but even before they committed to each other, Luke and Lorelai have one of the best relationships as friends that are always there for each other. Jess is also an old friend to Rory into adulthood.

Pregnancy

What ended Christopher and Lorelai's relationship in their youth is her unexpected pregnancy with Rory. Throughout her pregnancy and most of Rory's childhood, Lorelai is a single mother who rarely sees the father of her child. However, since she moves to Stars Hollow Luke Danes was always a constant in Rory's life.

At the end of A Year in the Life, Rory tells her mother she's pregnant. Since she's been having an affair with Logan, the audience can assume it's his child. Given the similarities between Logan and Christopher, it's possible he'll be as inactive in the child's life. However, Jess's friendship with Rory could mean he'll be there.
