Stars Hollow is full of quirky neighbors, colorful theatrics, and even some unsung heroes. In a lot of ways, the main characters in Gilmore Girls have heroic moments throughout the series. The Gilmores were a big part of why Rory attended Chilton and Yale, Sookie spent more time helping the inn than at home, and Lane was always there assisting Rory. But there are minor characters who lowkey saved the day too.

Characters like Miss Patty, Babette, and even Mrs. Kim have come through for the main characters in some shape or form. Whether it was saving their behinds at work or simply supporting them in an argument, even some of the harshest side characters had their courageous moments.

Miss Patty Saved Lorelai's Embarrassing Moment

There's nothing Babette or Miss Patty wouldn't do for Lorelai and Rory. But it was in 'I Get A Sidekick Out Of You' where Miss Patty's allegiance to Lorelai really shined.

With Luke out of town for Lane and Zack's wedding, Lorelai went with Christopher and had one too many tequila shots. She ended up making a drunken speech in front of everyone about not getting married because she was unlovable. The next day, she figured Luke heard about her drunken mishap but as it turned out, Miss Patty covered for her. She told Luke that Lorelai sang in front of everyone instead of making an embarrassing speech. She saved Lorelai the embarrassment.

Brian Fuller Helped Zack & Lane Every Step Of The Way

Lane and Brian change the babies diapers on Gilmore Girls.

While there are some fans out there who believe Lane and Brian should have ended up together instead of Lane and Zack, it's safe to say that Lane and Brian are just really good friends.

Brian was always respectful and excited to engage with Lane's Korean culture and was proper in front of her family. When Lane got pregnant, Brian stepped up more than Zack did and was seen helping Lane change and care for the babies. Brian was someone they could always rely on.

Paris Geller Was Rory's Righthand Gal

Paris is confident, determined, and doesn't take mistreatment from anyone. And while she and Rory got off on the wrong foot during Rory's first year at Chilton, the two slowly became friends. Whether they wanted to believe it or not, these two relied on each other.

Paris stuck her neck out for Rory on numerous occasions. She saved Rory when Dean questioned her about Jess, she helped them find affordable apartments around Yale, she pushed for Rory to go back to college, and she stood up for her against Lucy. Paris may be brazen but she's a hero who got better and better with time.

Bill Was Selfless At The Yale Daily News

Bill is a character that fans often forget about but he shouldn't be pushed to the side. He came through for Rory and the Yale Daily News (YDN) like his life depended on it.

After Paris's meltdown basically ruined the YDN, Bill stuck around to watch Paris's reaction to everyone quitting. However, his behavior changed when Rory stepped up to the plate and got the paper back on track. Before anyone else, Bill took charge and helped Rory. Without Bill's help, who's to say the YDN would have gone out on time?

Caesar Was Luke's Backbone

Rory and Caesar at Luke's Diner in Gilmore Girls

In the early seasons, Ceasar's name was mentioned but he wasn't really shown. Eventually, he starts making regular appearances as the chef at Luke's Diner.

Unlike Luke, Cesar was super energetic and friendly. He even tried adding his own spin on traditional diner meals and even added frozen bananas to the menu, which became a hit. Ceasar wanted to do more at the diner and encouraged Luke to take more breaks because he had everything under control and genuinely enjoyed working there. Ceasar is one character who deserved more credit.

Jason Stiles Saved Richard Gilmore

Although Jason and Lorelai were hot and heavy for a short time, it was his heroism with Richard Gilmore that makes him stand out.

When Richard started his own business after leaving a prominent firm, he was in a better headspace but needed some help. Jason came to the rescue and offered him a proposition of teaming up together and handling Jason's clients together. Because of Jason's idea, Richard's business was thriving. Sadly, the two had a falling out over Jason's father and the toxicity of a lawsuit ended their time together. However, Richard can't deny that Jason helped him when he needed it most.

What Would The Dragonfly Inn Be Like Without Michel Gerard?

Michel smiling at the inn's front desk on Gilmore Girls

Michel is a character who doesn't get enough credit. He's seen as Lorelai's righthand man who does everything Lorelai asks but he's also an incredibly bright man who has his own ideas and dreams for the inn.

Lorelai should have listened to more of Michel's ideas for the inn because they were smart (like shoe-shining for guests). Lorelai's sarcasm was problematic at times, and the jokes with Michel didn't always land but Michel still jumped through hoops to make the inn a success.

Tom Is The Town's Go-To Handyman

Split image of Luke's back and Tom in a yellow hat on Gilmore Girls

Justice for Tom! Tom is Stars Hollow's go-to heroic handyman. Whenever there's a scene of someone needing construction of any sort, Tom is typically seen leading the project. He was even there when Rory did Habitat for Humanity.

Tom helped Lorelai get the Dragonfly Inn on track for opening day, he fixed the hole TJ made in Lorelai's house, and he helped Luke rebuild his diner after Kirk drove his car into it. Is there anything Tom can't do?

Mrs. Kim Came Through For Lane In The End

Mrs. Kim and Lane with Hep Alien on Gilmore Girls

At first, Mrs. Kim is seen as a villain in a lot of ways because of the amount of pressure she put on Lane. Mrs. Kim demanded Lane to behave a certain way because she feared she would turn out like other students in Stars Hollow. What Mrs. Kim didn't know is that Lane was a totally different person than who she thought she was. It was a running joke that Lane hid her true self in the floorboards and in her closet.

After Mrs. Kim found out who the real Lane was, it took her some time before fully accepting her daughter. Her heroism eventually made itself known when she helped Lane and Hep Alien go on a small tour. She got them a van, set up venues for them... If Lane was going to do the music thing, Mrs. Kim was going to make sure she did it right.

Mia Bass Gave Lorelai Her Fresh Start

Mia and the Gilmore ladies on Gilmore Girls

Where would Lorelai and Rory be without Mia Bass? It was Mia who took Lorelai in as a teenager, gave her a job at the Independence Inn, and gave her and her daughter a place to sleep.

Mia was the mother Lorelai always wanted but didn't have. And because of that, she's a true hero that isn't praised enough in Gilmore Girls.
