As Rory once told Lane, Logan is "a constant surprise" throughout Gilmore Girls. His relationship with Rory evolved from his first scene in 'Written In The Stars' and flowed right into the revival. The beauty of Rory and Logan's relationship is that they started on a bad foot and ended on a high note. Compared to Rory's other relationships, Logan appeared to be endgame once they started dating.

And while Rory's time with Dean and Jess was necessary for growth, Team Logan fans were rooting for him and Rory from the start. Dean and Jess had their chance to make Rory a priority but it was Logan who stepped up to the plate and gave her what she was always looking for. Team Logan fans took their love of the couple to Reddit and proved why he was the number one contender for Rory.

Logan (Eventually) Made Rory A Priority In His Life

Logan was one of the first men that was honest with Rory from the start about his intentions. He wasn't a boyfriend-kind of guy and wanted to date casually. For a while, Rory was on board but that didn't last long when feelings and jealousy got in the way.

Eventually, Logan dropped his playboy habits and made Rory a priority. By the end of the series, Team Logan fans loved that he was making room for Rory in his life after Yale and including her in his plans. These two not ending up together would have been an unpopular opinion.

One of the reasons that Rory fell for Jess while she was with Dean was because of his intellect. They talked about books, poetry, the sciences, and beyond. Logan was a few notches about Jess in that department, making him the perfect package.

One Reddit fan noted that Logan challenged her and was witty enough to keep up with Rory, while also learning from her. Likewise, Rory was always learning something new from Logan — just like the time she was engaging in business conversation when it came to Logan's new venture.

Rory And Logan's Relationship Was Mature Compared To Her Time With Jess And Dean

As is the case for every Gilmore Girls character, the older Rory got and the more experiences she had, the more mature she became. The same was said for Logan. Looking back on their relationship, there were plenty of times where Logan and Rory were in non-verbal scenes together enjoying each other's presence while reading, writing, and the like.

Sure, the couple had their dramatic moments but they were mature arguments instead of the teenage drama that came with not saying "I love you" back a la Dean Forester.

Logan Got Rory Out Of Her Shell

No boyfriend got Rory out of her small Stars Hollow bubble like Logan did. Dean was a hermit, Jess wanted her out of Stars Hollow for all of the wrong reasons, while Logan dared Rory to live boldly. He never shamed Rory for loving her home town but he did show her how big the world was and to live life in the fast lane.

He introduced her to a secret society kept under wraps, he brought her to London, and he encouraged her to live life as a social college student instead of hiding inside with her books. Logan gave Rory adventure.

He Pushed Rory To Go Big And Do Better

Logan didn't just give Rory adventure, he pushed her to be the best. While Jess and Dean encouraged Rory to follow her dreams, Logan went a step further and did this through gentle criticism.

One of the saddest things about Logan is how harshly his family criticized him, but giving feedback and an honest opinion on the world was what he was accustomed to. With Rory, Logan didn't roll over and praise Rory's every breath. He told her how much he disliked her review on the Life and Death Brigade, he questioned her edits on his Yale Daily News articles, and he pushed her to grab the fellowship after graduation instead of interning for a small, local paper.

Logan's Character Growth Was Endearing

Not every Rory fan loved her character arc over the years. After all, she stole a yacht, drifted from Lorelai, and took part in two affairs (one of them being with Logan in A Year in the Life). Logan, on the other hand, had a glow-up. He went from a spoiled brat who ignored consequences to slowing down and growing up.

He took his new job in London seriously while staying committed to Rory, he included her in future plans and started treating others more kindly. It was hard for fans to not join Team Logan.

He Offered Rory Security And Reliability

Rory never needed security because she always had it. In different areas, she was secure in all of her relationships, she was always safe in Stars Hollow, and her mom was the ultimate safety blanket. Logan, however, offered her a different level of security and reliability.

He was the one man that was adored by her grandparents, his family's money and well-known last name could have given Rory any job she wanted, and unlike her time with Jess and Dean, Rory knew she could rely on Logan and that he would be there. Team Logan fans united when he didn't leave her side during her grandfather's heart attack, which only brought them closer.

They Were Able To Make It Through Long-Distance During A Time Where FaceTime Wasn't A Thing

Things would have been totally different for a few characters if it was filmed today instead of the early 2000s. For starters, Rory and Logan could have Skyped or used FaceTime to stay in touch while he was in London.

Rory also would have known how to check her text messages instead of waiting for her phone to ring. Nevertheless, Logan and Rory made it through long-distance and picked up where they left off when he came back to Connecticut.

Logan Genuinely Respected Rory And Showed This In Various Of Ways

This is not to say that Dean and Jess didn't respect Rory, but Logan's respect for her surpassed theirs. Dean was seen as too pushy, needy, and clingy to respect Rory's need for space, while Jess's lack of communication proved he had no respect for her time. Logan, however, found various ways to show his adoration and respect for Rory.

He lent her his driving service to go back to Stars Hollow, he allowed her to live in his apartment for free when she was down on her luck, and he encouraged her to reach for the stars when it came to both her family and her career.

He Made An Effort With Lorelai That Jess Didn't

To be fair to Team Dean fans, Dean was the only man that Lorelai truly loved for Rory. But after seeing how much Logan and Rory loved and appreciated each other, it was hard for her to not support their relationship. Logan knew he started off on a bad foot with Lorelai and tried hard to change that.

He made Rory feel secure, he stayed for hours at the hospital when Richard was sick, and he took the time to talk to Lorelai about their differences. He had honest and mature conversations with Lorelai — something that Jess never did.
