Fans of Gilmore Girls know all about Lane Kim. She's Rory's best friend and she's loyal and full of personality, but she's not without faults. Throughout the years, Lane's major character flaws became more and more evident to fans, making her likability something of debate for years.

From being a music snob to using Rory for some rather unfair goal, the series has given Lane some less than ideal qualities. Keep reading to find out the 10 ways that Lane got worse and worse in Gilmore Girls.

She's A Music Snob

Every Gilmore Girls fan knows how much Lane Kim loves to rock out. While her love for music is endearing, her arrogance towards the topic is not.

For instance, when Lane's cousin came to town in season four, Lane blatantly criticized Christine's lack of classic rock knowledge. Fans love that Lane is passionate about music but there's no need for her elitist attitude.

She's Disrespectful To Her Mom

Lane and Mrs Kim

Mrs. Kim may have been strict, but it's only because she loves Lane and wants the best for her. Regardless of Mrs. Kim's good intentions, Lane has no problem with lying to get her way.

Lane led a double life for most of the series which really put a strain on her relationship with her mother. Luckily, these two were able to find some common ground by the end of the series.

She's Needy

It's no secret that Lane is overly dependant on Rory and Lorelai. This became especially obvious in the season one episode, "Love and War and Snow" where Lane experienced boy problems and was frustrated that Rory wasn't always at her disposal.

To make matters worse, Lane ended up infringing on Lorelai's date with Max by staying the night at the Gilmore household even though Rory wasn't home.

She Was Unfair To Henry

Henry and Lane were a great match. Not only was Lane interested in him, but she thought Mrs. Kim might even approve of him as well. Unfortunately, Lane never gave her mom the chance to get to know Henry as she kept their relationship a secret.

This was really unfair to Henry as it made even the simplest aspects of their relationship complicated. He ultimately ended things with Lane, but only because she refused to be honest about their relationship.

She Hurt Yiung Chui

This supporting character really got the short end of the stick. In season three, Lane pretended to date Yiung Chui in order to spend time with Dave. While Yiung Chui knew his relationship with Lane was a sham, this didn't stop him from falling in love with her.

Regardless of Yiung Chui's feelings, he continued to act as Lane's cover-up boyfriend. All the while, Dave was rude and Lane never even bothered to get to know the poor guy.

She Used Rory

Rory and Lane on Gilmore Girls.

Rory and Lane's friendship is virtually a one-way street. She loves to talk about herself and she endlessly asks Rory and Lorelai for favors. For instance, Rory went out of her way to help her secretly date Henry and Lorelai let her use their garage for band practice.

This behavior didn't stop in the early seasons. Lane continued to use Rory as the series progressed, like when she stayed with Rory at Yale during season four, even though Rory's roommates were not on-board.

She Complains Way Too Much

It seems like Lane always has something to complain about. Whether it's boy troubles, her issues with Mrs. Kim, or band drama, nothing ever seems to go Lane's way.

While it's true that Lane doesn't have all of the privileges that Rory has, her constant gripes were still pretty unnecessary.

She's Selfish

Lane always expected Rory to drop whatever she was doing to help her. This includes the time that Lane wanted to dye her hair purple and the time she got mad at Rory for being invested in her relationship with Dean.

Even though Rory has been there for Lane on several occasions, Lane never fails to ask for more from Rory.

She Let Dave Go

It was never clear as to why these two broke up. In Gilmore Girls' fourth season, Lane and Dave got into an argument over the marriage jug and that's the last fans heard of him.

While audiences can deduce that they broke things off after their disagreement or because of long-distance, it seems like they didn't fight hard enough for one another. It's a shame because Dave was perfect for Lane.

She Settled For Zack

There's nothing wrong with Zack but he just wasn't Lane's perfect match. They lacked chemistry and it's hard to believe that Lane would fall for him after being with Dave.

Fans would have loved to see Lane get out of Stars Hollow and get the exciting life that she always wanted. It was a bummer to see her settle for a life with Zack in the long run.
