As soon as Ginny & Georgia began streaming on Netflix, viewers compared it to Gilmore Girls, and it's true that the shows have a few things in common. In both cases, a young single mom lives in a small town with her teenage daughter, and they make quite an impression at town meetings and at their kid's school. Of course, Georgia has a devastating and tragic past, involving family neglect and abuse, which is much worse than Lorelai's typical tension with her parents.

If the characters from Stars Hollow and Wellsbury were to meet each other, it seems like some would be talking a mile a minute right away, whereas others would really dislike one another.

Would Work: Lorelai And Georgia

Lorelai and Georgia have a lot in common, besides the fact that they both got pregnant while in high school.

They're both happy to live in a charming small town but don't really fit in with other people, as they have always sought out a non-traditional lifestyle. While Lorelai comes from more privilege than Georgia does, they both have a tendency to speak honestly. Just like fans can relate to Lorelai's quotes, Georgia has wisdom to share about life and love. It's easy to see Lorelai and Georgia meeting at Luke's or Joe's for a burger or glass of wine. They could talk about their intelligent daughters and it seems like they would get along quite well.

Turn Ugly: Jess And Marcus

gilmore girls jess and ginny and georgia marcus

Through all of the romantic Jess and Rory episodes, it's clear that Jess is a rebel who thrives on his bad reputation, at least when he's in high school.

Marcus on Ginny & Georgia is similar. Maxine's brother creates a secret love triangle with Ginny and Hunter, and while he's casually dating another student, he doesn't treat her well. Jess is a much nicer person than Marcus, although Ginny sees some of Marcus' good side, and the two characters would likely fight over the same crush or find something immature to argue about.

Would Work: Rory And Ginny

Rory on Gilmore Girls and Ginny on Ginny & Georgia

Both Rory and Ginny are intelligent and perceptive. Rory might have needed a bit of time to find herself at Chilton, but once she did, she succeeded and even became valedictorian.

From her first day at her school, Ginny proved that she was a force to be reckoned with, as she schooled her teacher on including more books by non-white authors and broadening the perspective of every student. Rory and Ginny would bond over their love of learning and reading, and it would be good for Rory to become more aware of people with less privilege than her.

Turn Ugly: Paris And Maxine

gilmore girls paris ginny and georgia maxine

Maxine is an instant best friend for Ginny and she's the most hilarious and compelling character on the show. She takes Ginny under her wing and introduces her to her friend group, who call themselves "MAN" (and add a "G" to include Ginny). She's a fast-talking, bubbly person who loves fashion and a good reason to dress up, like Halloween, where she wears a few different Britney Spears costumes.

While Max is smart, she loves reality TV like Vanderpump Rules and talks a mile a minute about her love life, and that would likely annoy Paris, who wants to think about more academic pursuits. It's hard to see these two characters becoming friendly.

Would Work: Luke And Joe

Luke on Gilmore Girls and Joe and Georgia on Ginny & Georgia

While Luke might be skeptical of befriending someone new, he would warm up quickly to Joe, the kind and gentle owner of a similar restaurant that is also a town favorite.

Luke and Joe would become good friends as they could share recipes, stories from running their businesses, and even some advice. They're both the strong and silent type who doesn't love gossip or talking to tons of people, so they have that in common.

Turn Ugly: Taylor And Cynthia

Taylor plays a major role in Stars Hollow life and Cynthia does the same thing for her town on Ginny & Georgia.

Cynthia is a super competitive person who enjoys fighting and standing up for what she believes in, even if she's wrong. It's easy to see Taylor and Cynthia going head to head at town hall meetings or even running against each other in the mayoral race. They wouldn't see eye to eye and Cynthia might even spread rumors about Taylor, which would upset him even more.

Would Work: Lane And Hunter

lane on gilmore girls hunter on ginny and georgia

Lane always plays in her beloved band and she would bond with Hunter thanks to their mutual love of music.

Lane would swoon along with Ginny and her friends over the song that Hunter wrote, and she would want Zack to do the same thing for her. She and Hunter could trade advice about writing songs and performing for others, and maybe they would even join forces and play together sometimes. Hunter is very sweet and respectful and Lane would count him as a good friend in no time.

Turn Ugly: Kirk And Paul

gilmore girls kirk ginny and georgia ginny and paul

If Kirk and Paul lived in the same town, it seems likely that they would annoy each other constantly.

These characters come from very different backgrounds. While Kirk is quirky and maybe too close with his mother, Paul grew up in a wealthy family and had everything from education to opportunity handed to him. They wouldn't have much of a reason to talk to each other, as Paul is preoccupied with balancing his budget and getting re-elected, and Kirk loves coming up with new business ideas.

Would Work: Sookie And Ellen

gilmore girls sookie and ginny and georgia ellen

While Sookie has quirky storylines related to her job as a chef and Ellen mostly gets upset about her rebellious teens, these two characters seem like they would really like each other.

Both Sookie and Ellen feel like they don't fit in with everyone around them, and they're both carving their own path. Ellen would be a great influence on Sookie as she could help her become less shy and speak up a bit more about what she believes in. Sookie would cook Ellen a great dinner and they would connect over food.

Turn Ugly: April And Abby

gilmore girls april ginny georgia abby

It's hard to picture two more opposite teenagers than April on Gilmore Girls and Abby on Ginny & Georgia.

While Abby loves partying and drinking with her friends, and she doesn't blink an eye at shoplifting, April would rather study and she doesn't seem to have many pals. These characters seem like they would have trouble getting along as they wouldn't share common hobbies or have much to talk about.
