Lorelai and Rory may get the main storylines on Gilmore Girlsbut the other people in their lives contribute to the show's quirky and funny tone. These characters may not always get their own plotlines, from the mother/daughter duo's love interests to some of Stars Hollow's best residents. But their presence would definitely be missed if they weren't on the show as these people have a great sense of humor.

From Lorelai's good friend and co-worker to someone who Rory interacts with at school, there are many Gilmore Girls characters who are considered smaller characters who make a huge impact as they're totally hilarious.

Zach Van Gerbig

While Gilmore Girls fans debate Dave and Zack, Zack is definitely the funnier of Lane's two main love interests.

Zack can be a bit ditzy as he doesn't always understand the right way to act and speak, but that contributes to his charm, and his passion for music contributes to his overall funny vibe. Zack might not make as many funny jokes as some other minor characters, and he's not one for the intelligent banter that the show is known for. But Zack does make fans smile whenever he bickers with Brian or tries to tell Lane how he's feeling.

Max Medina

Although at first glance, Max might not seem like he has a great sense of humor as he's fairly serious and practical, he's good at bantering with Lorelai.

The two characters get to know each other in season 1 by joking around and finding clever ways to talk about their relationship. One of Max's funniest lines is when Lorelai says they spent a great night together and he says that novels could be written about it. While Luke is praised for making fans laugh with his grumpy vibe, there's something sweet and funny about Max.

Louise Grant

When Rory meets Louise and Madeline as they're friends with Paris at Chilton, she probably doesn't expect Louise to make her laugh very much. Louise is just as obsessed with dating as her close pal Madeline and they both seem fairly ditzy.

Louise has a great sense of humor, though, and she's got a dry wit that comes out sometimes, making her one of the funniest Gilmore Girls side characters. Louise makes viewers laugh, and one of her best quotes is when she says "Those who simply wait for information to come find them spend a lot of time sitting by the phone. Those who go out and find it themselves, have something to say when it rings."

Gypsy

Gypsy is one of the smartest Stars Hollow residents on Gilmore Girls and fans love seeing her around town, talking to the other characters about fixing their cars.

Gypsy has a kind heart along with a sarcastic sense of humor and ability to be honest no matter what. In one funny scene at Emily's bachelorette party, Emily talks about how she can't understand Lorelai's jokes and Gypsy says, "Please make your mother stop talking to me."

Miss Patty

Known as the Stars Hollow gossip, Miss Patty loves to hang out at Luke's diner with Babette and chat about what's going on with everyone in town. Miss Patty's humor stems from her love of musical theater, her past relationships, and also her love of talking about romance.

No one is safe from being talked about by Miss Patty, but she's so kind that no one minds, as she has looked out for Rory her entire life. Some of Miss Patty's most hilarious scenes are when she's teaching kids dance and shares dramatic stories.

Michel Gerard

From the pilot episode, Michel says that he doesn't want to talk to anyone on the phone as everyone is stupid, and fans know that he's going to be a hilarious and beloved part of the show.

While Michel often acts like he doesn't love his job, as he doesn't enjoy small talk or being nice to customers, that tough exterior makes him one of the most hilarious characters. Fans love hearing Michel's point of view on whatever Lorelai and Sookie are up to at the Independence and Dragonfly Inn.

Jackson Belleville
