Melissa McCarthy is playing Ursula in the 2023 live action The Little Mermaid, and it will be fun to see the actor take on this beloved part. While the main characters of Gilmore Girls, including Sookie St. James, are noteworthy thanks to their defining qualities and whimsical nature, there are some more minor ones who viewers don't always think about.

In many cases, these characters are just as crucial to the plot, but they tend to fade from memory as they appear briefly. Other times, they don't make an impression as they are only in one episode. From someone who Rory dates once at Yale to a few Stars Hollow residents, there are many Gilmore Girls characters who fans don't recall, and Redditors are discussing these.

Trevor

Trevor and Rory talking on a date on Gilmore Girls

Rory and Lorelai's Gilmore Girls love interests are memorable, as they both fall in love several times throughout the series. There is one person who Rory briefly dates who is tough to recall. Redditor Smileygirl5 mentioned "That guy Rory went on a date with at the end of her first year at Yale" doesn't stand out.

When Rory begins attending Yale, she is fresh off a break-up with Jess Mariano and working through feelings for Dean Forester, and she thinks that she should enter the dating pool. Trevor is forgettable as he isn't given the same strong personalities as Jess, Dean, or Logan Huntzberger.

Jason Stiles

Jason and Lorelai standing on the street on Gilmore Girls

Jason Stiles and Lorelai become serious about each other in season 4, but he isn't as remarkable as Luke Danes or Christopher Hayden. Redditor PurrPrinThom posted, "I always forget about the relationship with Jason until Jason actually shows up."

While Jason has some quirks, like not wanting a partner to sleep in his room, he doesn't banter with Lorelai quite like her other major love interests. This makes it tough to like Jason as much as the other characters.

Robert Grimaldi

Robert, Colin and Finn in Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life

Robert Grimaldi is friends with Logan at Yale and also part of the Life and Death Brigade who shows up again in the Netflix revival A Year In The Life. He's wealthy and not particularly nice or compelling. Redditor othgg said, "He is the least interesting character ever."

Rory briefly interacts with Robert as they attend a party with a Quentin Tarantino theme together in the season 5 episode "Pulp Friction." Rory isn't a fan of Robert and definitely feels more drawn to Logan, and it makes sense that Rory would be put off by Robert's aggressive and conceited personality. Robert is also too similar to Finn and Colin to stand out.

Chase Bradford

Split image of Chase Bradford smiling and talking with his hands on Gilmore Girls

One Redditor mentioned Chase Bradford, who is an actuary in the season 1 episode "Star-Crossed Lovers And Other Strangers." The fan wrote that Emily asks Chase to be Lorelai's date for the night when Rory and Dean celebrate being together for three months. The fan explained, "She tried to set Lorelai up with him... He was really boring and droned on about himself."

Since Emily and Lorelai fight on Gilmore Girls a lot, and often about Lorelai's love life, this is a frustrating storyline to watch. It makes sense that Chase isn't memorable as he is dull and not as smart or quirky as Luke.

Bill

Paris and Bill at the Yale Daily News on Gilmore Girls

Bill writes for The Yale Daily News and interacts with Paris Geller and Rory and Redditor DuncaN71 posted that "Bill" is a forgotten character. Bill is sweet, smart, and responsible. He loves the newspaper and wants it to succeed.

While Bill is hard to remember, he's part of a major storyline as the staff votes Paris out as her time as editor has been full of strife and conflict. Rory replaces Paris, which causes tension, and while Bill is just as upset as the others about Paris, he doesn't stick out.

Dwight

Dwight looking upset and talking on Gilmore Girls

For Redditor littered999, Dwight is a character who doesn't leave a lasting mark. The fan wrote that he's a "neighbor who has them watch over his rare violets while he was on a vacation" and called him "forgettable."

Dwight is part of the season 3 episode "Eight O'Clock At The Oasis" and he asks Lorelai if she would take care of his garden because he's going away. It's easy to forget this plotline but it does give Jess and Rory the opportunity to banter as they water the garden together. The episode's major storyline is that Lorelai likes Peyton Sanders, who she talks to at an auction.

Alex Lesman

Alex and Lorelai in Gilmore Girls

Lorelai's romance with Alex Lesman proves why Luke and Lorelai's Gilmore Girls relationship is so popular. The two don't get along all that well and Alex isn't that exciting to watch. Redditor llamalover729 said of Alex, "The guy Loralei briefly dated. They went to the coffee tasting thing... I always forget about that relationship until I rewatch."

Alex and Lorelai are missing the spark that Lorelai has with both Christopher and Luke, and Alex doesn't bring much to the series. In order to fit in with the other major and minor Gilmore Girls characters, Alex definitely has to be wittier and funnier.

Francie Jarvis

Split image of Rory, Francie, Paris and Francie looking serious on Gilmore Girls

Francie Jarvis goes to Chilton with Paris and Rory and runs the secret society The Puffs and often has a harsh attitude. Redditor bfm211 posted that they often forget about her and wrote, "And for some reason even she got an AYITL cameo!"

Francie does have a key role in the revival as Paris gets upset after seeing her in the bathroom, admitting to Rory that she feels insecure about her life path and that she's unsure about where to go from here. But during the Chilton episodes, Francie isn't as memorable as Tristan Dugray or even Brad Langford, who leaves to star on Broadway.

Tobin

Split image of Tobin laughing and talking to Lorelai and Michel on Gilmore Girls

For Redditor lexjea4, "Tobin the night shift manager" is hard to remember. The fan wrote, "He shows up in season 3,a minor character." Tobin, Lorelai and Sookie become close while working at the Independence Inn together and it's clear that they get along well.

While Tobin is a nice person, he doesn't have the quirks that make up the great characters in Stars Hollow, and that makes him easy to forget. Tobin and Michel do have some tension with each other, which is enjoyable to watch and makes Tobin one of the funniest Gilmore Girls side characters.

Carolyn Bates

Christopher and Carolyn having dinner on Gilmore Girls

Emily loves to play matchmaker, but it never works out, as she doesn't have the best instincts. Redditor snailslimeandbeespit wrote that "Carolyn Bates (Melora Hardin), the psychologist with whom Emily tries to set up Christopher" is a character who isn't memorable. The fan wrote, "I'd forgotten about her until I just rewatched 'Partings.'"

When Emily sets Lorelai or Christopher up, she picks people who come from wealthy backgrounds and seem pretentious and not Chris or Lorelai's types at all. This happens so often that it can feel a bit tiresome and it seems unfair that Emily meddles so much.
