While Gilmore Girls focuses on a mother and daughter who are best friends, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, the show features tons of other interesting characters, such as family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, teachers and significant others.

And here is a fun fact: Some of the unique personalities in Stars Hollow can be matched to Disney characters! Yes, there are counterparts that exist between this beloved TV show and this magical world, based on interests, strengths, physical features, and overall vibes. Some of them are princes or princesses, some are animal sidekicks, and all of them can be found down below.

Lorelai & Vanellope von Schweetz

Lorelai & Vanellope von Schweetz

Lorelai is a quirky character, who dresses in a funky way, talks nonstop and brings/spreads excitement and cheer. She is also a quick thinker who can dish out snappy and sarcastic comebacks and jokes.

This sounds a bit like Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph, as they both share one-of-a-kind outfits, witty attitudes, brown hair, caring souls, and a love of sweets.

Rory & Belle

Rory & Belle

Obviously, Rory and Belle from Beauty & the Beast would be counterparts. First of all, they look a lot alike. Secondly, they can often be found reading. And thirdly, they will stand up for those in need, though Rory is a bit more introverted, while Belle is known to be quite feisty.

They also have had men flirt with them and get nowhere (Tristan and Gaston), as they would rather be left alone with their books more than anything else!

Luke & Grumpy

Luke & Grumpy

Luke Danes can be a bit gruff, as he gets annoyed easily and is used to his same, calm routine each day. Despite his frown, he is a super sweet guy who serves up the best food and coffee in town, marries Lorelai, and would do anything for his loved ones.

Grumpy, one of the seven dwarfs, got his name for a reason. As his time progressed with Snow White, though, he was shown to have a soft and sensitive side, as well.

Jess & The Beast

Similarly, Luke’s nephew, Jess Mariano, can be judged like the covers on the books he adores; with his bad boy vibe and motorcycle, the residents of Stars Hollow, including Lorelai, were not too sure about him. Rory got to know him, however, and he is another caring character, who is also intelligent and hardworking.

The Beast was judged, which made sense, but he was cursed; deep down, he was a handsome and charming prince… and he owned a huge library that definitely appealed to Belle (Rory’s counterpart)!

Dean & Prince Charming

Dean & Prince Charming

A boyfriend on Gilmore Girls who pleased everyone, for the most part, is Dean Forester. He played sports in high school, he built Rory a car, he worked at the local grocery store, and he is a genuinely good guy

In fact, he can seem like Prince Charming, who is the perfect catch, with his good looks and his friendly attitude.

Emily & Sebastian

The story would not be complete without Emily Gilmore, and though she can be tough, controlling and sometimes harsh, she loves her family deeply and would do anything for them.

Due to her stern and in-control personality and her red hair, though, her counterpart has to be Sebastian, a Disney sidekick from The Little Mermaid! He is cultured and bright, but his delivery is not always the best.

Richard & Mufasa

Richard & Mufasa

Her husband, Richard Gilmore, should remind some fans of Mufasa from The Lion King. Powerful and strong, both of these men led with a humble influence and were respected by all.

Unfortunately, both of them lost their lives, but their advice, their work, and their legends live on, always.

Sookie & Dory

Sookie & Dory

Sookie St. James is Lorelai’s best friend, and they opened an inn together, with Sookie preparing delicious meals each day in the kitchen. This sometimes leads to disasters, as she can be a little clumsy and spacey.

That sounds familiar… Dory, the main character in Finding Nemo who even received her own film, has some definite blonde moments. Like Sookie, though, a better friend can not be found.

Chris & Peter Pan

Chris & Peter Pan

An important significant other on Gilmore Girls is Christopher Hayden; he is Rory’s father, and he has an on-again, off-again relationship with Lorelai (though, it is officially off and over now). In the past, part of the reason this relationship never worked was because Chris could not seem to grow up or hold down a job.

That being said, he shares some traits with Peter Pan. These two enjoy having fun and playing games (with Chris on his motorcycle and Pan flying around Neverland). They are super lovable, though, despite it all.

Miss Patty & Lumière

And finally, two more characters who are a lot alike… Miss Patty and Lumière!

They are performers, they are over the top, they have exotic vibes, they have a way with flirting, and they are very hospitable, welcoming people to Stars Hollow and the castle, respectively.
