While the main characters on Gilmore Girls are of various ages and many of them don't need roommates, fans have watched Rory Gilmore and Paris Geller live together over several seasons. Viewers also love the fun that Rory and Lorelai have living in their Stars Hollow home, and it's hilarious observing Luke Danes when his equally surly nephew Jess Mariano moves in.

When examining which Gilmore Girls characters would be fun to live with and which ones would make someone want to move immediately, the coolest and most difficult potential roommates stand out immediately.

Great: Rory Gilmore

Rory's sweetest Gilmore Girls scenes not only prove that she'd be a wonderful roommate but that she's a good, loyal friend to have around.

Whether living with Lorelai or Paris, Rory is always up for a movie night with take-out and junk food or ready to gossip or be a shoulder to cry on. Her behavior with Paris is the best example of why she'd be a peaceful, calm, and happy person to live with. While many would find a new place to live right away as they would find Paris too intense, Rory respects her friend and lets her be who she is without complaining. Rory would be quiet and polite, respecting someone's space while going about her business.

The Worst: Paris Geller

On the other hand, Paris would make for a difficult and sometimes cold roommate, as proven by her years living with Rory at Yale and then in their own apartment.

Paris is not only harsh and says whatever comes into her mind, but she's overly nosy, always wanting to know where someone is going and what they're up to. While there's a lot to love about Paris and fans have grown to see that her upbringing explains why she's nervous about trusting people, someone would have to get to know her really well before sharing a space.

Great: Lane Kim

Rory's best friend Lane Kim is another contender for an amazing roommate who would fill an apartment or house with music, fun, and laughter.

Lane would introduce her roommate to her musical expertise, whether inviting her band over to play some tunes on a Saturday night or sharing her favorite album or song, and it would be really enjoyable living with her. Lane has also shown herself to be an incredibly loyal and kind friend, as she's there to listen to Rory when she needs her, and that would make her a compassionate roommate.

The Worst: Emily Gilmore

Emily ignores boundaries on Gilmore Girls in many instances, which is one main reason why she would be a tough person to live with.

Whether ignoring Rory and Lorelai's desire for privacy or prying into the lives of strangers, Emily can be just as curious as Paris, and while she's charming and funny with a biting wit, it might be tough to live with her. If Emily's roommate kept different hours than her and came home late, Emily would have a lot of questions, and she might not like the way that someone organizes the place. Emily would also likely hire some staff and her roommate wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

Great: Lorelai Gilmore

As the most fun-loving character on Gilmore Girls, it's hard not to want to live with Lorelai Gilmore.

Lorelai has created an incredibly cozy home for her and Rory, and fans love watching them set up their infamous movie nights and going through life together. Lorelai might not cook, but she knows the best take-out in town, and she's so funny and chatty that she would live her roommate in stitches all the time. She can make any regular day a celebration and any take-out pizza meal a party.

The Worst: Luke Danes

Grumpy in many episodes, yet with a sweet nature that strangers don't often see, Luke Danes keeps a very particularly routine and seems made for living alone.

Although Luke does learn to live with Lorelai when he moves into her house, he still struggles a bit with their very different personalities, especially when she likes watching Lifetime movies in bed in the Netflix revival A Year In The Life. Luke loves waking up early and keeps a very neat home, and when he lives above his diner before he and Lorelai get serious, it seems like he likes things a certain way.

Great: Sookie St. James

Gilmore Girls fans love Sookie St. James for her random and quirky sense of humor and she has a very warm heart. It's easy to imagine her being an amazing roommate who cooks gourmet breakfasts, makes sure that the kitchen is stocked with homemade snacks, and invites people over for fun and epic dinner parties.

Just like Sookie supplies Lorelai with coffee at the Independence and Dragonfly Inns and makes sure that she has enough to eat throughout the day, Sookie would show her roommate the same care, and anyone living with her could also learn a lot about cooking and baking.

The Worst: Jess Mariano

When Jess Mariano moves to Stars Hollow and starts living with Luke, the two prove that they can barely share a space with each other. And since they're family and have so much trouble getting along, it's hard to imagine Jess living with a friend or acquaintance.

It's true that Jess matures as he gets older and he's much kinder and calmer in the Netflix revival. But for most of the popular series, Jess's moods follow him everywhere that he goes, and it seems like he would be grumpy and refuse to really get to know his roommate.

Great: Dean Forester

After observing Dean Forester's best Gilmore Girls storylines, fans can tell that this character cares deeply about showing friends, family, and strangers a lot of kindness.

Dean enjoys his job at Doose's Market and also tells Rory that he likes the comfortable domestic bliss in his home, suggesting that he would be a solid roommate to have. It's easy to picture Dean texting to ask if his roommate needs anything at the grocery store and he would let someone decorate how they please. Dean would also be a nice person to chat with after a long day at work or school.

The Worst: Taylor Doose

Based on his bossy behavior at town hall meetings and the way that he treats the Stars Hollow residents, Taylor Doose definitely seems like a terrible roommate.

Taylor would complain about whatever his roommate did, from not keeping the kitchen clean enough to a perceived slight that doesn't feel like a big deal, and he would seem unnecessarily harsh. He might even set up a complicated system for chores that would seem like overkill.
