The town of Stars Hollow is the main setting for Gilmore Girls and a place where residents live a cheerful existence. While they sometimes fight at town halls about traffic lights and parking spots, everyone cares about each other and wants the town to thrive. They support each other's local businesses and while they might gossip too much, no one has any negative intentions.

But what if zombies descended upon this peaceful town and wrecked havoc? Sometimes the GG characters go through hard times, and if they were facing a zombie apocalypse, there are some who would be helpful and others who would only hurt the cause of human survival.

Want: Sookie St. James

Sookie and Lorelai standing in the kitchen on Gilmore Girls

Sookie is the sweet chef with a great sense of humor, and she would do well in a zombie apocalypse.

First of all, she's an incredible foodie, and she would help everyone find food and stay alive. That would definitely be helpful. She would also keep everyone's spirits up because no one can be unhappy when in Sookie's company. She can get down sometimes, like when a critic hates her magic risotto, but otherwise, she's a sunny person and those good vibes would be necessary.

Wouldn't: Emily Gilmore

Rory's grandma and Lorelai's mom, Emily Gilmore has a surprising amount of humor to her character, even if she's often in a bad mood.

Emily likes things just so and she would ruin any efforts at thriving and surviving a zombie outbreak. She would not only complain but she would be so cynical that everyone would get seriously bummed out. While she's great at running her household and throwing parties, Emily's not adept at being nice to strangers or dealing with adversity.

Want: Dean Forester

Gilmore Girls Dean watching

Dean charmed Rory, and Gilmore Girls fans love him too. He would be a good character to have on a zombie fighting team as he's friendly and gets along with most people.

Sure, Dean can hold a grudge (and absolutely loathes Jess), but for the most part, he's proud to live in Stars Hollow. As a loyal family man, he wouldn't want to see his home get destroyed, and would follow the advice of his fellow residents. He might not have any great ideas, but not everyone can be an ideas person.

Wouldn't: Michel Gerard

Michel - Gilmore Girls

Michel is a lot kinder than he appears. While he's prickly on the phone with strangers and doesn't always love his job, he does love Lorelai, Rory, and Sookie.

Even though he's a popular character, Michel and Lorelai have some tense moments, and it seems like he would do pretty poorly in a zombie apocalypse. He would bicker with anyone who would listen and he would complain the entire time about how he was hungry and unhappy.

Want: Luke Danes

Luke talking to Lorelai at the diner on Gilmore Girls

Luke might be a health nut who freaks out when Lorelai and Rory drink vats of coffee and snarf junk food but he does have a lot of tricks up his sleeve. He would be awesome in this situation as he's an accomplished cook and he could make a meal out of any food that he found. He would also be a surprising leader, as he's been known to protect the people he cares about.

It's easy to imagine Luke getting himself in gear and doing his best to save Stars Hollow. He also knows a lot about the town since he grew up there, so he would know some good hiding places.

Wouldn't: Jess Mariano

Jess would be a real pain to be around during a zombie apocalypse. He would spend too much time fixating on books he had read about the same situation and would constantly tell people that they weren't doing the right thing. This would make an already tough time even worse.

Jess is also sarcastic no matter what, and this would really upset his fellow survivors. He's a rebel who would refuse to listen to other people.

Want: Richard Gilmore

Richard and Emily at the Yale football game on Gilmore Girls

Richard would be a surprising asset if zombies came to Stars Hollow.

Well-read and elegant, Richard is used to debating others and though he can be a little stuck-up, he has a good soul. He would probably become partners with someone else, like his granddaughter Rory, and they would formulate a plan of action. Richard is used to a certain rich and comfortable lifestyle so he would be motivated to get back to that as soon as possible. He's also a history buff so he would find the zombies fascinating.

Wouldn't: Lorelai Gilmore

Lorelai wearing a plaid shirt in Gilmore Girls

Lorelai can be a difficult girlfriend and Luke isn't the only one who has to deal with her moods. She can be grumpy and annoying if she doesn't get her way, and she's not someone who can deal with compromise.

Lorelai whines when she doesn't get what she wants, from asking Rory for an ice cream study break to bugging Luke about anything and everything. The others would tire of her pretty quickly and her nervous energy would get in the way. She also wouldn't take the threat seriously, and since the Stars Hollow residents would need to create their own government of sorts, that would be a problem.

Want: Rory Gilmore

Lorelai and Rory are the best characters on the show and thankfully, one of them would be great in this scary situation. Rory would get ready immediately and take on a leadership role. She would decide who would do what and before too long, everyone would have food, shelter, and a game plan.

Rory is nice even when she's bossy so no one would mind following her lead, and since she's smart and practical, she would figure out a way to survive even if no one else could. Rory also wouldn't get scared, as she has faced some adversity in her life, like going to Chilton — a school out of a horror film.

Wouldn't: Logan Huntzberger

Alexis Bledel as Rory and Matt Czuchry as Logan in Gilmore Girls

Logan can be a horrible person, and that's just one reason why others wouldn't want him on their zombie fighting team.

Logan is super privileged, so he wouldn't think that he was actually in trouble. Even if he saw a few zombies, he would laugh it off and think that they weren't even real. He would also make some stupid choices, like hiding in plain sight or taking too long when grabbing supplies.
