Gilmore Girls was full of small-town charm, loving relationships, quirky social functions, family dynamics, quaint homes, lots of coffee and fashion moments; from gowns at dances at costumes during celebrations to the outfits that the main characters wore to school, to work and at home, there were some stand-out styles over the years.
Who dressed the best, though? Whose ensembles rose above the rest? And who were the most fashionable characters on Gilmore Girls, out of the stars, the supporting characters and the guests who appeared on this popular television series?
Richard
As an affluent and handsome man who ran a successful business and entertained quite often, Richard Gilmore was always dressed sharply. In fact, most of the time, he wore a suit (surely from some luxurious brand) and his signature accessory, a bow tie.
Of course, Emily did the shopping in this household, so she should get the credit. Still, he was a stylish man who belongs on this list.
Miss Celine
Whenever Richard and Emily had a super fancy and special function, they brought in Miss Celine; she had been the family’s stylist for years, and she supplied glamorous looks for everyone.
She also dressed in a memorable way herself, with those little glasses, her flowy dresses, all those necklaces, and her turban.
Sherry
Christopher had a baby with Sherry, a very prim and polished woman. She planned everything and loved order in all areas of her life, and she was into her appearance, with stylish garments and picture-perfect hairstyles… even when going into labor.
She may have not appeared that often, but when she did, she donned glam makeup and trendy outfits!
Chris
Speaking of Chris… He dressed pretty well, too. He came from money and inherited some later in life, leading to many good-looking suits. Even when he was wearing casual clothes, though, he looked cool.
High-quality pieces, layers and timeless items made up this wardrobe, meaning this handsome man was even more appealing to look at, in all of his great outfits.
Emily
Class and style came easily for Emily Gilmore, and she spent a good amount of time shopping for clothes. She was also a very busy lady, meaning she needed ensembles for everything from dinner parties and galas to DAR meetings and gardening.
Her wardrobe could be a little matronly and modest, but it was very fitting for her. And her signature outfits of blazers and skirts went well with her strong and powerful personality.
Lorelai
Lorelai’s style was as quirky as she was herself, which made for some interesting outfits. She didn’t mind mixing colors and prints, and she loved a good accessory. Some of her looks could be sort of juvenile, though, and her mother would always be quick to point out any crude words, images, or placements.
Most of the time, though, Lor wore very pretty and professional garments, since she did own her own business.
Madeline
When Rory attended Chilton, she met Madeline and Louise, two girls whose hobbies included partying, doing their nails, going on dates, shopping, looking through fashion magazines, and going on more dates.
Many of their scenes featured them in their school uniforms, but some of their normal and trendy pieces were seen over the years, too. And based on that, Madeline certainly deserves a place on this list.
Louise
Louise was super into fashion and boys, as well. Whether she was shown on the weekend, at a concert or on a spring break trip, she was wearing something revealing, something flashy and something accessorized with cool pieces and a funky hairstyle!
Michel
Michel Gerard worked with Lorelai and Sookie and was really one of their good friends... deep down, once they got past his bad attitude. This stylish man put a lot of time and energy into how he looked.
His workout regime, his diet, his hobbies, and his outfits all needed to be perfect, in his mind. That being said, he did show off some fabulous looks through the years!
Anna
And then there was Anna Nardini, the woman who had Luke’s daughter, April, yet never told him. She owned a boutique, full of one-of-a-kind pieces, which proved she had an eye for this sort of thing. She also had a sort of boho vibe, and while her outfits may be a little dated now, in 2020, she was a very fashionable character!
