Ever since Gilmore Girls got a reboot in 2016, fans have speculated about the possibility of another revival. Many did not feel satisfied with the way things ended in the first reboot. Others resigned themselves to the news that the creators were finished with the series.

Gilmore Girls was one of the first series to get the reboot treatment, so the project sticks in viewers' minds years later. Five signals point to a second installment, and five denials say otherwise.

Denied: All Talk, No Action

Netflix has definitely stayed in touch with Gilmore Girls creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino, but it's all talk.

Netflix loved the success of the 2016 reboot, and the writers were pleased to finish things their way (for those who don't know, they exited the original series before the seventh season). But until some firm plans are made, good vibes from Netflix aren't quite enough.

It's Coming: Cliffhanger Ending

One big clue that a second season is coming is the original revival's cliffhanger ending in itself. "Mom?" "Yeah?" "I'm pregnant."

It's the closing dialogue fans never expected, and it makes no sense for it to be the definitive end of Gilmore Girls forever. The four-line finale begs for further closure, so how could a revival be left wide open like that?

Denied: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Aside from the unexpected coronavirus halt, Amy Sherman-Palladino has been consistently busy with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime.

It's obvious that such a successful show is time-consuming. The beloved Gilmore Girls creator might not have the availability to commit to another reboot for awhile.

It's Coming: Who's The Dad?

Once fans got over the initial shock of the 2016 reboot's end, they started speculating as to who could be the father of Rory's baby.

Viewers weren't the only ones who had ideas about the situation. Milo Ventimiglia weighed in on the theories in 2017, claiming that it wasn't "any of the three guys," including himself. If Jess himself was willing to spill his thoughts, perhaps the writers will reveal the answer eventually.

Even though one of Rory's old flames opened his mouth about the possibilities, another has been tight-lipped. Matt Czuchry (who played Logan) was a guest on "Chicks in the Office" in 2019, and he was asked about the loose ends of the reboot story. Czuchry's background with the reboot was quite interesting. Before he was invited to participate, he found out about the then-upcoming reboot on the Internet, just like fans did.

The actor loved being part of the project and said, "It was authentic because the creators got to tell the story that they wanted to tell." Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino actually told Matt what "the intention of those four words" between Rory and Lorelai was. Unfortunately, he won't be dishing on that intention because he loves the "choose your own adventure" aspect of the story.

It's Coming: The Escape Clause

Going back to Mrs. Maisel, there is an exciting caveat. In 2017, Elite Daily reported that showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino had an escape clause in her contract with Amazon stating that she would be allowed to work with Netflix if she should choose to pursue a new Gilmore Girls opportunity.

Fans everywhere who read that article likely breathed a sigh of relief.

Denied: Leave The Full Circle Alone

Matt Czuchry made another mind-blowing point on "Chicks in the Office." He thinks Lorelai and Rory's journey has come full circle with the reboot as is. In a sense, he's not wrong.

Rory is much older than Lorelai was when she became pregnant, but there are certain obvious similarities to the two pregnancies. Czuchry said, "For me, it's not about the guys; it's about them." Maybe it just doesn't even matter who the father is if Rory and Lorelai are able to stand together in the next chapter of their lives.

It's Coming: Just In Case, No Spoilers

The plot thickens with a Lauren Graham interview from PeopleThe TV mom told the outlet that "Amy and Alexis have an agreed upon truth." Why all the secrecy?

Graham elaborated, "I think also, if there were ever even some sort of reunion, I would never want to blow that." Fair point. More importantly, the answer hints at a possible continuation of the reboot.

Denied: Too Predictable

The writers and the fans might just have unwittingly conspired against another Gilmore Girls project. The obvious answer to Rory's next step is all over the Internet (and in many fans' minds): Rory is living Lorelai's life. Differences aside, full circle is full circle.

Some reboots have failed because they try too hard to recreate their glory days. If fans have already spelled out the trajectory of Rory's life, is it really fun anymore? Furthermore, if the writers truly intend for Logan to be the new Christopher and Jess to be the new Luke, they'll have to get creative to keep that storyline from getting stale.

It's Coming: Lorelai 2.0

Rory in Gilmore Girls A Year in the Life

Maybe the beauty of Gilmore Girls is that Rory and Lorelai are two different people. Rory didn't get pregnant as a teenager, and Lorelai didn't get on the fast track to Yale. Both ran away from home for a time, but in different ways and for different reasons.

Both fulfilled some of their dreams, but they did so in completely unique ways. Why shouldn't their adult lives continue in a similar fashion? Maybe all this talk of "will they or won't they have the reunion" is meant to spur fans on to imagine big things for future Rory.
