After watching every episode of Gilmore Girls countless times, fans couldn't wait for the Netflix revival A Year In The Life. It promised a trip back to comforting Stars Hollow, more time with the hilarious Rory and Lorelai, and hopefully, some exciting new developments in their lives.

Now that fans have had several years to think about and digest the events of the revival, they're talking about these four episodes on Reddit, sharing the things that they enjoyed and the moments that left them confused and a little bit disappointed.

Why Didn't Lorelai And Luke Talk To Each Other?

Lorelai and Luke get married in Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life

According to this Reddit user's post, they were confused by Luke and Lorelai's communication problems in the revival. They explained, "I find it pretty hard to believe that after about 10 years of being together, they haven’t been able to make decisions about being married or having children."

This is definitely a good point, as fans are curious about Luke and Lorelai's long delayed wedding. It did seem like the couple could have found a few moments to have a serious chat about their future, especially since their relationship was up in the air for a while. It's no wonder that many fans scratched their heads about this plotline.

Lane's Ending Is Sad

The same fan was also unsure about the conclusion to Lane's story, asking why Lane would run her mom's antique store. The fan wrote, "Lane has spent almost her entire time as a teenager trying to hide this world of music that she’s so passionate about from her mom."

A common criticism of the Gilmore Girls revival has to do with Lane, as fans appreciate her cool personality and musical talents, and many felt that she wasn't given the ending that she needed, with two kids and the band barely playing. Maybe Lane could have managed the store from afar while touring with Zack and the band, or maybe they could have left Stars Hollow.

Emily Has A Wonderful Story

Reddit user Starbright624 posted that they liked watching Emily and wrote, "I think the only thing I really liked about the revival was Emily's emotional growth."

While many viewers don't love everything about these newer episodes, they do feel that Emily's storyline is satisfying. It's heartbreaking to watch her lose Richard as this couple has so many sweet episodes that prove their true connection. It's great seeing Emily discover that she feels right at home in Nantucket, and fans love that she will continue her relationship with Lorelai, as Lorelai and Luke will keep visiting.

AYITL Felt Like The OG Series

Reddit user Inka_b shared that they were pleased with the revival. They explained, "It brought back all the feelings I always had watching the OS, and I think they've recaptured the atmosphere of the show perfectly." The fan said that while they didn't love all of it, they like Rory's mistakes and messes as she's "a fuller character and kinda more relatable to me."

The biggest hope for a revival or reboot is that it captures that magic of the first show, and it sounds like A Year In The Life did that for some people. A revival can't please everyone but these episodes did have the fast banter between Lorelai and Rory, plenty of coffee, and appearances by beloved characters like Kirk.

Why Did Rory Sleep With A Married Logan?

A Reddit user wasn't happy with Rory and Logan's affair and wrote, "You'd think she would've learnt her lesson about sleeping with a married man."

Rory did repeat the mistake that she made when she slept with Dean while he was married to Lindsay. This seems to be one of the parts of the revival that fans have the most questions about, as it seemed like Rory was mature enough to know this wasn't the best situation to be in.

It Was Satisfying To Watch Emily And Lorelai

Reddit user palaceofparagraphs shared that they liked seeing Emily and Lorelai in the revival. They explained, "whatever happens they will keep wanting each other's love and approval, and they will keep pushing each other's buttons so they can never really make peace. But I felt like by the end of the revival they both knew that and were content with it."

Even if some fans had some problems with the revival, it's true that these characters did seem willing to work on their relationship, and after all of the fighting and tension over the years, it was meaningful that they put in the effort.

It's Nice To See The Show Come "Full Circle"

As for Reddit user AshSendsHerRegards, they liked that Rory came "full circle."  They wrote, "Rory is now who Lorelai was at the beginning of the series." They continued, "The ending perfectly matched what Amy was trying to say about the whole series."

Rory might not like everything about her adult life, but if there was ever another season of Gilmore Girls, maybe Rory would be excited about becoming a parent and going on that journey. Many fans also have high hopes that Rory and Jess would begin dating again, but since they are now family by marriage, this might change the situation.

Sookie Would Definitely Leave The Dragonfly Inn

Reddit user Yeahhh_b*tch found it relatable that Sookie left the Dragonfly and they wrote, "I felt it was much more closer to reality of how best friends have to move away to pursue something else."

This is a different perspective, as many viewers wanted more screen time from Sookie. While it was heartbreaking to see the friends working separately, it's true that over time, people change and start to want different things. Maybe if Sookie had appeared in just one more scene, fans would feel more satisfied, but this story decision seemed to be due to Melissa McCarthy's filming schedule.

The Cliffhanger Works Well

When thinking about the ending of the revival, as Rory shared her pregnancy news with her mom, Reddit user dancingdriver posted that this ending worked well for them. They wrote, "I liked the ending and I liked Rory’s story. Her mid life crisis is very real and relatable (minus the affair). And although I’d like to have more resolving regarding her career, I like that her love life is left open ended. It’s a cliffhanger that allows each viewer to make their own minds about Rory’s future."

No matter how fans feel about Rory being pregnant, this was a moment that no fan could move on from, and there are still so many questions, including who the father is. There didn't seem to be any potential conclusion, especially since Amy Sherman-Palladino had planned a season finale that she didn't get to write.

Rory Wouldn't Really Forget Paul

According to Reddit user Julietrose26's post, it didn't make sense that Rory would forget all about Paul. They explained, "I think it's funny how everyone forgets about Paul. I mean everyone. That is almost impossible. Especially since they were dating for 2 years."

There are good reasons for all of Rory's relationships, but no one was really sure why she was dating Paul. They didn't seem to have much to talk about and fans didn't get a good understanding of their romance or how they started seeing each other. While there is a lot to love about A Year In The Life, many viewers would have taken this part out entirely.
