Of all the things that fans enjoy about Gilmore Girls, the Stars Hollow setting is a big draw. The town square, quaint atmosphere, and Luke's diner keep viewers coming back, and the townspeople seem kind and caring as well. It's sweet to see how much Miss Patty, Babette, Gypsy, and the rest care about Rory and Lorelai, and it's clear that this is the perfect home for the Gilmore girls.

But even though life in this small town has many upsides, fans have seen Stars Hollow residents behave in frustrating ways. But while there are times when these characters butt their heads into places where they don't belong, these quirky townspeople do lend support at other moments.

Too Nosy: Taylor Marks Lorelai And Luke's Breakup With Ribbons

Lorelai and Luke smiling together on Gilmore Girls

Luke and Lorelai's relationship involves two big break-ups and an epic wedding in A Year in the Life. In the season 5 episode "Say Something,' Babette tells Lorelai that Taylor was super prepared for this split. Taylor even came up with a plan, asking the townspeople to take a pink or blue ribbon to show support for either Lorelai or Luke.

Lorelai thinks that this is a strange idea, and fans totally agree with her, making this a time when Stars Hollow residents should mind their own business. It's painful enough for this beloved couple to break up without feeling pressure and judgment from their own community.

Supportive: Miss Patty Comes To Lorelai's Bachelorette Party

Before Lorelai decides that she can't marry Max and asks Rory to go away in the season 2 episode "The Road Trip To Harvard," she celebrates her upcoming wedding with a bachelorette party. This is a fun storyline, as Lorelai, Rory, Michel, Emily, Sookie, and Miss Patty spend the evening together.

Miss Patty is sweet and supportive in this episode, sharing a story about a previous marriage, and showing up for Lorelai. While Miss Patty does gossip a lot, she truly cares about seeing Lorelai happy and she's glad to be there for the big moments in her life.

Too Nosy: Taylor Asks Rory To Be The Ice Cream Queen

At the beginning of season 4, Rory is getting ready for Yale, but Taylor thinks that she should be the town Ice Cream Queen. She says that she doesn't have time to fit this into her busy schedule but also feels guilty for not wanting to help out.

While fans understand that Taylor is very proud of his new soda shop — or "shoppe" — this is a time when he is sticking his nose into someone else's business. He should understand that Rory is nervous about starting college and that this isn't the right time to add more to her plate.

Supportive: The Town Celebrates Rory's 16th Birthday

Lorelai and Rory always celebrate each other's birthdays in a fun, casual way, and the most memorable is Rory's 16th birthday in season 1 of Gilmore Girls. While Emily throws a sophisticated party where Rory feels uncomfortable, Lorelai has a relaxed get-together at her house.

Stars Hollow residents are really supportive here, happy to attend the party and celebrate this milestone in Rory's young life. It's clear that they would do anything for this mother and daughter, and it's so heartwarming.

Too Nosy: Miss Patty And Babette Talk About Lorelai's Divorce

In one hilarious scene, Babette says to Miss Patty, "Only the hen is living there now." Miss Patty asks, "So did the hen break up with the beagle or the beagle break up with the hen?" Babette says that she doesn't know, and they agree that they feel bad for Lorelai. They also talk about how "the hen," meaning Luke, needs to be with Lorelai.

While it's funny to see these characters speaking in code, it's definitely true that they could save their gossip for a more private location. Kirk overhears them talking and he's probably not the only one.

Supportive: Miss Patty Wakes Rory And Dean Up

Rory's life changes when she dates Dean, including in season 1 when they go to a Chilton dance and then fall asleep at Miss Patty's dance studio. Miss Patty wakes them up and tells them that they should go home.

This is one of Miss Patty's best moments, as she doesn't lecture the young couple and she seems to feel bad about how embarrassed they are. Miss Patty likes to look out for Rory since she has known her for so long, and she definitely has Rory's back here.

Too Nosy: Taylor Tells Luke That Jess Created A Fake Murder

In season 2, Taylor barges into the diner and tells Luke that there's a "phony murder scene" at Doose's Market. He believes that Jess did it as he says that many people saw him "lurking" around there.

While it seems like Jess did do this, as Rory tells him that she knows he orchestrated the prank, this is definitely a time when Taylor gets overly involved. Taylor should be able to take this in stride and move on. His complaints only stress Luke out and make him feel bad.

Supportive: Pete Helps Make Lorelai's Birthday Pizza

Rory has a fun idea in the season 3 episode "Happy Birthday, Baby" and wants to find the world's biggest pizza for her mom. Pete does his best to make this a reality, calling Rory and letting her know about problems that have come up. In a hilarious scene, Pete says, "I’m a little concerned that the crust is not gonna be able to support all the toppings we talked about. We might need to put in a second crust."

Even though Pete can tell that this won't be an easy job, he wants to be there for Rory and Lorelai, and he gives this task his all. It's really sweet to see, especially since Rory and Lorelai have been such active members of Stars Hollow.

Too Nosy: Taylor Never Cares What Luke Thinks

While it's nostalgic to watch Taylor open up Taylor's Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe, he messes up by putting a window between his store and Luke's diner. Of course, Luke doesn't love this and says, "You can't change the basic structure of this place without my okay!"

Taylor is always too nosy when it comes to his relationship with Luke. He never talks to Luke beforehand, and it's frustrating to watch, as they could work something out that makes them both happy.

Supportive: Everyone Celebrates Rory's Yale Graduation

While Gilmore Girls viewers see highs and lows in season 7, the town comes out for Rory's Yale graduation. It's amazing that Luke plans this whole party, as he feels that Rory can't leave without a celebration. It's a huge outpouring of love that makes fans emotional.

Maybe some Stars Hollow residents have questions about Rory's future or their own ideas about what she should do., but they're full of love in this episode, and they show her nothing but total support.
