The cast in The Gilded Age is filled with entertainment industry veterans and newcomers to the screen alike. Ten years after Julian Fellowes was tapped to write the show set in 1880s New York City, the project has finally come to fruition. After years of speculation, Fellowes' next period drama, The Gilded Age, debuts on January 24, 2022.

The Gilded Age is set in the same world as Downton Abbey, but several decades before and in the United States, and while the show originally was going to be about the courtship of Lord and Lady Grantham, while also featuring the Dowager Countess, the character list appears to feature mostly unfamiliar names. Instead of Downton Abbey’s dual stories of upstairs and downstairs life, The Gilded Age centers around the idea of old money versus new money. Set in a time of unprecedented growth in the United States, everyone is trying to prove their worth.
