Death Stranding features an outlandish world that has Sam Bridges trekking through a landscape that is crawling with a variety of foes. Shadowy figures that are known as "BTs" (a.k.a. beached things) roam this world and this guide will explain the process of taking down one that's rather big.

Initially released on November 8, 2019, Death Stranding tells a sprawling tale that's wrapped around a world that is not what it seems. A cataclysmic situation has torn a rift between the realms of the dead and the living in which creatures that are known as "Beached Things" are now bleeding through into the physical realm. These creatures act as carriers for each individual that's about to retire and crossover to the great beyond, and they're unique in composition with each person. As they roam the land, BTs cause systematic destruction throughout the United States by causing explosions known as "voidouts" that enables them to consume the dead. Afterward, an event is known as "timefall" summons rain high in the heavens that plummet down onto the Earth which speeds up time and deteriorates everything that it touches. On top of BTs, Sam will also face human threats called MULES and Demens which are obsessed with stealing cargo from porters that work with Sam's company.  Sam will be thrust into a conspiracy by other parties that are trying to ultimately activate the 'last stranding', which is supposed to end the current pattern of human extinction that's happening. Of course, there are other individuals that have other plans in mind regarding this event.

Players take control of Sam Bridges has they work their way through an open world that's full of terrorists, bandits, and BTs as he delivers supplies to "KNOTS". These are cities are the remnants of the United States and they are the only safe havens available throughout the land. The game has a very real sense of physics implemented to where how cargos behave by; height, weight, and stability as Sam carries supplies on his back. The way players stack up the cargo on Sam will affect the way he traverses the land while on foot. So, players must think strategically about how they're going to deliver their goods. Also, this game has a new social network feature where players must have Sam deliver the cargo to all the various KNOTS and then be judged on how well he performed. This is called the Chiral Network and players can utilize this to obtain maps, blueprints, ladders, and generators to help get to unreachable areas. Thus, players will be encouraged to leave supplies, messages, and building structures for other players to use and share. Through the accumulated of "likes", the player will earn XP to where they can upgrade Sam's equipment and enhance his statistics. Although BTs are somewhat invisible, Sam's suit is equipped with a sensor that points toward the general vicinity of where they are.  Combating BTs will be a constant occurrence in Death Stranding and they can come in varying sizes in which sometimes encountering them can act like mini-boss battles. In this case, the giant BT is a boss that's associated with the overall story and players will need to properly equip themselves to prepare for this fight.

Beating The Giant BT in Death Stranding

Whenever players will first see the giant BT, panic will ensue. The giant BT is arguably the most difficult boss in the game and the first sight of him will make player's minds race on trying to figure out what to do. This boss shows up on Episode 9 when Sam needs to head over the Edge Knot City where he will meet up with Higgs. He will be holding Amelie hostage while giving players a grand lecture on how he's going to end the current situation with death stranding. In any case, after this cut scene, Sam will face the giant BT.

The battle will start with the BT walking toward Sam out in a field. Higgs and Amelie will be embedded in its body. The most effective way to tear down the BT is by shooting its shoulders and chest. They are fairly easy targets and hard to miss. Also, don't forget that Higgs is melded into the body of this thing, and shooting him will also do massive damage. So, try and keep an eye out for him and line up a shot whenever the occasion arises. There's no special weapon to really commit to when fighting the giant BT. Throwing everything and the kitchen sink that's available within the player's arsenal is recommended. Slow-moving projectiles can really help with its rotation. Something like rocket launchers would be ideal. Also, try and use:

  • Hematic Grenades
  • Remote-Detonation Grenade Launchers
  • Anti-BT Handguns

Don't just hang around in the open field. The BT will barrage players with its projectiles and there will also be golden monsters swarming around Sam. Instead, try and find some cover. The best type of cover to use is on top of a building or at least someplace that's elevated. This is the best way to stay out of harm's way. While doing this, summon other players (by using the touch-pad) to help keep Sam alive. Eventually, some of its body parts will start glowing red and that's a signal to focus on them. Just pick a weapon and tear into it. Keep moving around and stay out of the way of the projectiles. With some well-placed shots, the beast will eventually come tumbling down. Just remember that Higgs is in there somewhere and focusing on him is key to taking this BT out.
