A video scheduled to go live on PlayStation's official YouTube channel has outed the March 2022 release date for Ghostwire: Tokyo. Developed by The Evil Within studio Tango Gameworks, Ghostwire: Tokyo is a PS5 console exclusive that originally bore an October 2021 due date. Publisher Bethesda Softworks and Tango delayed the project last summer, however, pushing it to 2022 in an effort to avoid crunching through the final months of production.

Though the studio has since shown more of the title in action, firm release details remain under wraps - at least in terms of official news. Interestingly, a PlayStation Store listing in late January hinted Ghostwire: Tokyo would finally hit PS5 on March 24. Neither Sony nor Bethesda have formally confirmed as much, leaving many to wonder if the listing served as little more than a misnomer, especially since the date in question is right around the corner and information about the launch remains scant at best. New developments suggest Ghostwire: Tokyo's PlayStation Store listing isn't too far off the mark.

Website Push Square noticed something peculiar on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. Tomorrow, February 3, the account plans to host a Ghostwire: Tokyo-centric showcase at 4:00 PM CST. The video description proves particularly fascinating, given that it outs the supernatural adventure game's release date. According to the description, Ghostwire: Tokyo will come to PS5 as a console exclusive in just a few short weeks on March 25, 2022 - just one day shy of the date listed on the PlayStation Store. The brief blurb also teases pre-order bonus content, though the specifics themselves don't receive mention.

With all of the above in mind, it seems safe to assume that players will get to explore Ghostwire: Tokyo's supernatural story in late March. The release has been a long time coming, too. Bethesda and Tango Gameworks originally unveiled the mysterious project during the publisher's E3 2019 conference, promising an experience unlike anything the studio had previously produced. Hopefully, tomorrow's stream will lift the veil even further.

As the title suggests, Ghostwire: Tokyo will allow players to explore a twisted version of Tokyo, one overrun by deadly forces that have significantly reduced the city's population. Apparently, a formidable occultist rests at the center of the strange phenomenon, leaving a wide range of horrors and mysteries in their wake. Those who jump into the experience can expect to align themselves with another supernatural entity while on the hunt for vengeance.
