In Ghostwire: Tokyo, Akito needs to find ways to get more Magatama to break the Skill Locks imposed on several powers under the Ability, Ethereal Weave, and Equipment trees. All of the combat, stealth, and mobility mechanics revolve around the Skills that Akito has in his arsenal thanks to KK in Ghostwire: Tokyo. While Skill Points are used to upgrade everything in the Ability, Ethereal Weave, and Equipment trees, there are certain skills that require Magatama before they can be used.
Specifically, only the best Skill upgrades in Ghostwire: Tokyo require Magatama, such as Glide Summon Tengu, Glide Duration Boost II, and quite a few more. More often than not, the Skills that are locked are often ones that significantly improve that power for Akito, which is why it's important to get as many Magatama as possible. Unfortunately, getting Magatama isn't necessarily as easy as getting Skill Points themselves, which are earned every time Akito levels up.
Any Skill Lock can cost between three to seven Magatama to unlock, and unlike Skill Points, only one can be earned at a time. This makes upgrading each Skill to its final stage problematic, but the good news is that players can actually earn both Skill Points and Magatama at the same time. To get Magatama, players will need to certain side quests, which also reward XP and Spirits that can help Akito level up fast in Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Every Side Quest That Rewards Magatama In Ghostwire: Tokyo
Not every side quest rewards Magatama, but there is an easy way to determine which quests reward them, as well as all other items Akito can earn for completing the given side quest. As players continue to explore the city, they'll come across various side quests from restless Spirits or Ed that can instantly be started by interacting with the appropriate party with the green icon over in Ghostwire: Tokyo. Before starting any side quest, players should open their map and look at the side quest they're about to take. The map in Ghostwire: Tokyo will actually list the rewards for that side quest before it's been accepted.
Additionally, as more Shrines are cleansed in Ghostwire: Tokyo, more side quests and their rewards will be revealed on the map. For example, while The Crimson Moon side quest doesn't reward any Magatama, the Fallout 4 Vault Suit in Ghostwire: Tokyo is listed as a reward for completing this particular quest. Be sure to double-check the map and highlight the appropriate side quests in Ghostwire: Tokyo to get more Magatama as fast as possible.
